can you also use your ap discount? For instance, if you used a character meal voucher worth $39 at Blue Bayou, could you also ask for the ap discount on the meal? I know you don't get change back but I've never seen anything saying you couldn't combine it with an ap discount except when getting an actual character meal.

And...when it says beverage, tax, and tip included, I'm assuming that's only when used for the character meal?

Yes, that's right.

Yes you can use your AP discount, but since you won't get change it wouldn't matter at the character meal.

Say you go into BB, and your meal less the AP discount is $34, so you hand them the Premium Character Meal Voucher that is valued at $39. You can tell the server the other $5 is their tip since it's a TS location. In effect not loosing the $5.

Let say your BB meal was instead $44 after your AP discount and you got the dining plan. You could use your $39 character meal voucher and a $10 meal voucher, and the extra $5 could be a tip.

At CS and Snack location there are no tips. But you could use $5 snack toward the $9 of Mickey ice cream bars and pay the extra $4.50 out of pocket. Not loosing any money.

It takes some know how and planning but the dining plan can work out saving money, by using it for tips.

Thanks! Great information. I don't have a dining plan, just 5 character meal vouchers from our Costco package. We'll be having dinner at Storyteller's. Knowing ahead that you get an ap discount helps in figuring out how much we can order :rotfl:

ETA: the info about using any extra amount left on the voucher for a tip is excellent!

Buying a package through Costco Travel is such a great deal if you were planning on buying it through WDT. The prices are exactly the same as through WDT but you get a $20 gift card and the character meal vouchers for each member in your party. It is free money to use on food if you don't want to have a character meal.

Yes, what a great deal!! I didn't even realize at the time that you could use the vouchers as food money elsewhere. I will be more inclined to book through Costco now! I have an ap but the other members of my family don't, so when I book they take of the cost of 1 adult hopper. I can see online how much it's going to be by putting in the number of people in my party minus one adult, but you have to book over the phone so they can include everyone and just deduct the hopper cost for one. You want to make sure you get vouchers and extras for everybody!

The only downside to Costco (or any other package) is the restrictions if you have to change or cancel and the fact that you have to prepay. I don't mind prepaying but I do prefer the option of paying when I check out. But for my family of 5, getting $177 in meal vouchers and a gift card is a huge plus!!
