If There Were a FW Vacation Club...

I hate the thought of this monstrosity next to our beloved fort. The wilderness TAj Mahal is close enough for me.

The only really terrible thing about those plans is the location of the parking lot.

Agreed. It could have been placed in that forested area to the left of the trail over to the Wilderness Lodge. Other side of the road from where the Tri Circle D is now.

Looking at google earth, there's does seem to be an awful lot of other land they could have used to allow for a greater buffer between the "wilderness" of the campground and the glam of a DVC. They could move the proposed guest parking west of the new cast parking on the other side of Frontier Way. The land in there is already cleared it seems and it would have allowed for breathing room. I can't get a grasp on how it will tie in to the new Wilderness Lodge construction.

Let's remember that these plans are not being implemented now. It was just something that was proposed 5 years ago.

Still, even if they left the parking lot where it is in those plans, they could have just moved it 50-100 feet west, and left a heavily forested buffer. This way when you're walking up to the Settlement area, you don't even see it on the left side.

I understand about the implementation...I love site plans and analyzing them and making them better. It's my job:)

I hate to bring up a sore subject but just the thought of DVC here turns my stomach. Like others have said it will take so much away from the atmosphere that Fort Wilderness has. The main reason we come here to Disney is Fort Wilderness. We could stay at the Poly, GF or Contemporary if we wanted to but we dont, we like the campground, we're campers. I'm sure the folks over at Bay Lake Tower or the GF wouldn't like it if I backed my 5er in the parking lot and fired up my grill... in my opinion most of is for that matter like the Fort just like it is, if the Disney Company wants do anything at FW expanding loops or converting cabin sites over to camper sites. We all know how hard it is to book sites here at FW at certain of year, so it would be worth the investment to expand FW instead of a DVC,

Just my $0.02

The latest rumors were DVC over by the Caribbean Beach Resort after Wilderness Lodge work gets far enough along.

Bama Ed

That's good news, as long as they stay away from the Fort, maybe one of the Disney somebody's up the food chain will see this thread and ask us campers more advice....:duck:
