If the Skyliner at Pop breaks down ......

I am stressed just reading all these posts lol --- now I am wondering if we made the right choice booking at POP for this August. :scared:
As long as a potential Uber / MinnieVan fits in your budget I think you will be fine. You can watch the weather and anticipate weather delays. For breakdowns I wouldn't hesitate to check the app and grab ride.

I would Uber or Lyft or Mini-Van any morning at Pop Century - with the saving of the cost of a room at POP - I would pay an extra $50 in the morning to be at the theme park within 45 minutes or less
If I was going to MK from POP - then I would do a WDW Poke-a-dot van = they can park in front of MK

Just have a plan and don’t hesitate to act on it if weather hits. My regret is we had a light plan to grab an accessible MV (we had an ECV) from BC if Skyliner IG was down. It should have been a hard plan!

Alas we saw people waiting at the station and decided we’d wait too, after all they were sending buses! We should have trudged onto BC in the downpour and waited however long it would have taken for a MV or just for the storm to pass. Not only would waiting there have been nicer, we would have missed the special experience of having the bus driver and some transport CM manager scream at passengers to pack it in and the passengers scream back there was no more room- yup, not exaggerating, they crammed so many people onto the bus that literally happened.

At a park? I know when it first opened they used to send buses to various locations around International Gateway when the Skyliner went down, but that has not been our experience the past few years. We have been told to go to the bus depot at the front of Epcot. Then you drag yourself all the way to the front of Epcot only to find the Skyliner has reopened and you need to go to IG again. It’s the reason we will not stay at a Skyliner resort during the summer. We ended up taking a MV from BC three times due to this, and decided that was enough. It’s not quite as bad at DHS, since the buses aren’t so far away from the Skyliner station.

We love Pop, but stay at All Star during stormy season. At least there we know we have to take a bus no matter what.

I purposely did not look at Pop, AoA, or CBR for my August trip because of the potential for weather every day. All Stars is just fine for me.
I guess we’ve been lucky. We stay at Pop for 10 nights late each Aug and have only had to take a bus twice due to Skyliner being down due to weather. Thankfully both times it was from DHS.

We are not mid-day break people so tend to be traveling morning and evening so possibly that’s part of our success?

We’re booked in Aug again and not concerned.

Thanks for the info @fla4fun that buses do not run from IG when the Skyliner is down. I can’t imagine how awful it would be to walk all the way to the front only to find out that the Skyliner was open and we’d need to go back to IG!! At that point if MK was still open I think I’d take monorail to MK then bus back to Pop. All far from efficient though. 🙁
