If the new X-Pass system comes to be, when might that happen?

I know they are just testing it now, but if it is used long term, how long do you think until it might be made available? Months? Years?

I''ll be bold.........and go within this decade.

No one has a clue and if they tell you they do I'm not going to call them a liar but maybe I'll call them Pinocchio instead.

I know I should have expected such a response! :) I just have no idea if there is some kind of historical context that when they test something new it is usually right before release or still years away.

The historical context is that there is no typical or common time-frame
regarding any new policy, based on when it is first tested vs. its actual implementation...
if it ever gets implemented at all.

Based on the fact that our next trip is in September it will happen either

- during our trip causing chaos

- immediately after our trip and everything will run smoothly and we'll miss out on being the first to try it out.

Generally things happen right after we leave .......

~If I had to guess, I would expect xPass to be fully implemented by the time Fantasyland is completed. So I am guessing late 2013 to early 2014, or when the mine train is finally done. I can't wait for xPass, it's going to be fabulous! :goodvibes

Remember when RnRC was experimenting with the new "Lineless Queue" last year? Has it been implemented yet? <-- actually an honest question!!!

No, but Dumbo is due to get it this summer.

As for the xpass question, they were testing the RFID park entrance system LAST year, so this system has been in testing mode for at least a year. It could appear tomorrow or 2014 and beyond.

Based on all those facts we have? :confused3

Nope.

They were just using R'n'RC as a location for the test.

The queue was actually being tested for use on other attractions (notably, Dumbo, as was mentioned.)

Could that kind of queue ever be built at R'n'RC?
Sure.
But, I don't think that it was ever an eminent plan for it to be installed at R'n'RC.
That attraction was just a good test location, as it has that built-in "courtyard" waiting area
(which better suited the plan of the encompassing "line-less waiting area,")
unlike the regular line entrances at most other WDW attractions.

What was the line less queue at RnRC??

It was a test they were running a while back. It will be used for dumbo this summer. Essentially you get a number (like a deli). You can wander around and play games until your number is called. So although your are not standing in a line per say you are "in line" as in the numbers go in order but you dont have to be standing there.

I will boldly predict that NexPass will be widely available by the end of summer...

2014.

Where does one stand/wander?
How do you know it's your number?

Presumably all this will take place under the largish tent between the spinners. I dunno, numbers displayed on an electronic signboard? All we can do at this point is guess.

Sounds like it could be cool

Basically, you could wait in the designated area and if you weren't there when your number was called you had to start over.

Dumbo is supposed to have an interactive queue that is less structured than say Winnie-the-Pooh with carnival games etc sprinkled throughout the area. So you'll be able to participate in other activities instead of standing and staring at the back of the head of the person in front of you.

Maybe they'll have a conductor yell out the next number? Nobody knows. My best guess is that they'll have a combination of both visual and audio cues. I doubt you'll be able to go very far from the designated area, but I imagine it will make it easier to take kids to the bathroom without it being considered cutting.
