Be more likely to eat at Sanaa?

Edited to add: This will be our 3rd trip to Disney, never tried Sanaa but always thought about it. Kids will be with us- (6, and 3yrs old at time of trip), Have already done Boma 2x and not going there on this trip. Planning on having dinner at Jiko one night while kids are at Simba's Clubhouse. The food does appeal to us, just not sure if I should spend the money at Sanaa, or just go to Mara (cs in akl)

We didn't when we stayed there. However, we really like eating at the parks, an having the whole "Disney atmosphere" while we eat...so we don't really eat at any of the resort hotels.

Makes sense! I am trying to decide between Mara and Sanaa on a hopeful resort day (if the weather in January cooperates and its nice enough to swim)

Though- I could also go to Tusker for lunch or dinner or Yak and Yeti (havent been to either for lunch/dinner) Not on dining plan, so we dont really HAVE to do a sit down.

We are eating there on our last night of our upcoming trip and are staying AKL-CL. It will be our first time there. We actually decided to change our last nights ADR from Shula's (since we can eat there when we are home) to Sanaa due to all the good things we have heard about it. We figured it was a good idea to go on our last night so we won't feel rushed into packing either before or after dinner, then we can either spend time at DTD, enjoy some of the things going on at the resort or hang out in the CL lounge. :thumbsup2

Thats a great idea! I was leaving the last day open- Jan 27th- in case Fantasmic starts showing again on that date (Not on January's calendar so rumor swirling that its getting rehabbed). If it doesn't show Sanaa would be a great substitute!

We would eat at Sanaa if we were staying five miles off-site. It's a good restaurant and one of the better values on property, especially when you factor in the quality of the food and the theming of the restaurant. We are staying at French Quarter on our upcoming trip, and we plan on stopping in just for drinks and dessert at the bar!

If we were staying at one of the Animal Kingdom Lodge hotels, we most certainly would eat there, maybe once for both lunch and dinner. We would probably swing by for after-park drinks at the bar a couple times, as well.

I agree with the pp that said they would eat at Sanaa, even if staying 5 miles away. It's a great restaurant. What do I mean by great? The food is delicious and interesting. The service is fantastic. The restaurant is beautiful. Don't miss the chai cream dessert or the nice teas. We've eaten here twice and both times we thought it was better than many of the restaurants where ADRs are hard to grab (think Ohana).

After our lunch here in 2010, we decided we needed to stay at AKL in 2011, and we did in June and had dinner and it was as good as we remembered.

We've had dinner there three times. :thumbsup2

(Two of those times were while we were staying at AKV).

**Make sure you order the Naan bread appetizer. My kids still talk about that yummy dish!

I voted "other". When I stayed at Kidani last year we ordered room service off the Sanna menu. So yummy! I wish I could find a way to fit it in to my trip in January.

When we stayed at Kidani in March we ate at Sanaa for our first meal at Disney. We had just checked in after our 3 hour flight and needed some food.. it ended up being delicious! The flat breads with different dipping sauces were amazing! I definitely suggest trying the restaurant. Ask to sit near the windows.. you can watch all of the animals hanging out in the savanna while you're eating! :wizard:

Yes! We ate at Sanaa at our stay last month, it was the best meal of our trip. The service was great and the food was amazing!

That said I really like the food at Mara too, they have a great flatbread.

I am another "other"...

But that's only because I'm planning to eat there without staying at AKL this year, and my future plans would be more determined by that than by where I'm staying. I typically use resort meals to either hop, or take a break from a park, so transportation isn't really an issue.

I voted yes in your poll, but I should add that I'm already predisposed to eat at Sanaa even without staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Since our first visit to the restaurant, we haven't gone to WDW without at least stopping for drinks and appetizers in the lounge.

Sanaa is very good~ as mentioned, great food, atmosphere and service (our experience). I too, would go out of my way for it and for sure wouldn't miss it if we were staying at AKL.

Its settled- at some point we WILL eat at Sanaa during the trip! Thank you all so much for responding! I am excited to try it!

We eat at Sanaa wether we're staying at AKL or not. The food is wonderful, as is the service. I was so happy to find a new MUST DO restaurant at DW!

Glad you've decided to try Sanaa! It's really a 'hidden' gem.

I would eat there no matter where I was staying, it's completely worth the trip.

The last 2 years we have stayed at AKL and both time we have eaten at Sanna. The animals are nice to see, but no big deal to me anymore. I really enjoy the food. My whole family likes this restaurant and I have 3 boys ages 8/11/14.

If I were staying at AKL for anything longer then a couple of days I'd make sure to eat at Boma (dinner), Jiko, and Sanaa.
