okay i know this is pointless speculation since we don't know for sure about the 2054 yet.
but, i can't wait 2 weeks before asking this question.

so.... isn't 2054 a good thing?
doesn't it mean that EP is more likely to be built?
doesn't it increase the likelihood that even more resorts (like Villas at Poly or at AKL... heh, one can dream ;) ) might be built?
doesn't building more resorts keep the value of our ownership up?

i hope so...

The only negative I can see about Disney building more DVC resorts is if they sell them to a lot of people based on the premise that they can stay at the current DVC resorts.

In other words, if a key selling point to SSR is that "hey, you can stay at BCV or OKW anytime you like"....well, then the battle for reservations at non-home resorts at the 7 month mark will be fierce!

As far as keeping the value of our ownership up....personally, I don't care about that. I don't intend to sell, and I don't look at it as an investment that needs to hold value. Just my opinion.

I don't know about it making more resorts likely to be built, at least not anytime soon. I think SSR is going to be selling for a long time, especially if all the phases are built. It's not going to sell at the pace VWL & BCV did because they already had a loyal following from their main hotels and good locations. I am concerned about what Granny mentioned, they will use it like Vero to encourage people to buy to stay elsewhere at 7 months.

don't know - as I have say depends upon the ecomony - and that changes daily.

If SS sells out quickly and they kept adding on - that project could go for 5 years possible longer - so that is a long way down the road.

I really don't think you will ever get the Polyn as part of the DVC resort - but AKV that might be a possible - just depends upon what WDW can made the most money with. if they can find a way to solve the animal problem.

Remember that SSR is now announced at 552 units. That's a lot of selling which will likely take some 6-8 years, maybe even 10. EP would be in direct competition with SSR as it's a similar resort in many ways. My guess is SSR will still be the last but you never know and I'd love to be wrong.

There was an announced resort project at Eagle Pines golf course and then it was put on the backburner in favor of Saratoga Springs. It was supposed to be at least 600 units if I remember correctly (too lazy to pull out old VMs!)

All of these posts got me thinking, what if this is a separate entity all together. What I mean is what if the points we have can't be used at SSR and their points can't be used at any of the DVC resorts? Think about it, OKW was the original and only resort for a number of years, they could turn around and start a whole new phase.

I don't see that happening at all. Can you imagine trying to sell SSR and telling people that they can't use any of the current DVC resorts? I'd hate to be trying to sell SSR for a living under those rules!

I don't think they will make it seperate. If that was the plan, they wouldn't be constantly telling the current DVC members about it.

Hopefully, this resort will fold into the program without much trouble. I had concerns when they built Vero and HHI and how that would effect OKW. The effect was minimal. The only resorts that might have tough competition for reservations are the smaller ones -- BCV and VWL.

The theming of EP appealed to me much more. I also liked the idea of having a hotel component like at Vero. I hope they do build someday in the not too distant future.

Just returned from OKW on 6-20. Made several inquiries about SSR and EP.

SSR was described as a "sister" resort to OKW. As I understand it, there will be an "exclusive" OKW/SSR pool hopping deal. Also shared water transportation.

All of the buildings were up at SSR and final roofing was going on. CM said that SSR is expected to "sell the fastest". CM also stated that although not yet announced, the Tree House Villas will soon become DVC.

Was also told that EP is still supposed to go in following SSR. No specific time announced.

Time will tell how accurate this CM was.

My guess is that there will be something after SSR, maybe EP, maybe something else, but something. I just don't see them leaving SSR out there all by itself for the last 12 years. Especially if SSR sells resonablely well.
As a side note, I'm also not completely convinced that SSR is will reach its announced size of 550 plus units. I'm guessing 350 or so and then on to the next one.

Hey, go out on a limb. YES, I think Eagle Pines will be built, because they will build out SSR in what-4-6 years? Then, have nothing to sell for 42 years. Doubtful. DVC is a "cash cow" for Disney. They build the building, we pay for it, then in 50 yrs they own it scott free, or rebuild or refub. They have what 1000000 pts at BWV, and will sell them all? Avg cost of a pt at BWV is 70 or so, x 1000000= 70,000,000 for the building, plus they make money renting out the 3-4% inventory for 50 years, umh, yeah they make money.
Answer: YES, EP will be built and maybe another one, not possible on that one, but EP I would bet my Disney Club card on that one!!
P.S. I think BWV has MORE than 1,000,000 pts sold, I saw it somewhere, maybe closer to 2,000,000 pts

This makes me wonder if they are planning on doing away with pool hopping as we currently know it. Wouldn't really surprise me too much if they did.

When we were down there earlier this month one of the boat drivers mentions that the first buildings will be complete by this fall and that there would be a new boat system combining OKW, POR/FQ and SSR.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

I stand corrected. There are 4,675,250 pts available at BWV. So, Up my price. 4 million X avg cost 68/pt=272 million dollars Disney made. ( I did not include 675,250), and I don't think it cost 272 million dollars to build BWV, If it did, someone made a whole lot of money...........

Ok, 4,675,250 X 68/pt=317 million dollars. (I'm a stickler for details)

Hey all, we are here at Disney now deciding on DVC. Our sales rep said that SSR is definitely going to 2054. They are building a dock for transportation to OKW and Downtown Disney. The pool will be like SAB and there will not be a full service restaurant (no room service at all). And they will start selling in a few weeks. At least this is what we were told today.
