If someone backs out at the last minute...

If someone backs out of a reservation at the last minute or can only come for a few days how does this affect the dining plan?

It just makes the dining plan more expensive for you, but also gives you more DDP credits. Everyone registered in the room must be on the dining plan each night of the reservation. (Regardless if they are only there part of the time.)

Now, if they completely cancelled and won't be coming at all (and so won't get a room key) you MAY be able to cancel the dining plan for just them when you cancel their reservation. Not sure how far before check in you can cancel the reservation and DDP for a member of your party.

If you've booked a package & cancel inside the 45 day window, there is a cancelation fee of $100, & if a package is canceled inside a 6 day window a cancelation fee of $200 plus any other fees from the transportation or the resorts that apply. Travel insurance is not refunded. This is what I'm reading from my WDW vacation package just rec'd.

Changes to a reservation 44 days or less prior to guest arrival that results in a change in the package price, a change fee of $50 per package plus any change fees assesed by hotels or suppliers will be charged. Any change in package price also has to be paid at time of ressie change & is to the discretion of disney.....etc.

Changes before 45 days out I don't think are a problem, except for trip insurance & airfares. But you said a "last minute" change so unfortunately there may be at least a change fee if you're only taking one person off your ressie. Hope it all works out for you

We went last December and my husband (who was active duty military) was not able to join us until the third day there; we opted out of the dining plan because we were going to have to pay for him to be ON the dining plan for the entire time even though he wasn't going to be there the whole time.
