We are considering Nov 23 - Dec 4 to reschedule our vacation. The season changes from regular to value on the 26th. Will I need to make 2 reservations and check out/in on the 27 to get the lower rate for value season? Is there an easier way to do this? Thanks! :teeth:

This information is from mousesavers.com:

If your stay STARTS in a particular season, but runs into the next season, your room rate will be based on the season in effect when you check in. For instance, if you check in to your hotel for a one week stay on February 14 (Value Season), even though Peak Season starts on February 15 you will be charged for the entire stay at the Value Season rates.

since you check-in during regular season, the only way to get value season rates during your stay is to have two reservations. If you don't plan on switching resorts, you shouldn't have to move rooms, just recheck-in and get new room cards for the 2nd value season reservation. That is the only way you can get value season rates.

I have done this inthe past with an AP discount. I made 2 ressies and checked in and out to take advantage of the better rate.I didnt have to change rooms or anything.

Yes you will have to have two separate ressies in order to take advantage of the season change. While others have posted that they didn't have to change room, I just wanted to let you know that they might make you change rooms. Since you're going a somewhat busy time, it is a possibility. Just wanted to make sure you knew that ahead of time.

Thanks everyone! I thought that would be the case, checking out and back in. I guess I will think about it, as it would take time and we could end up having to move rooms. Maybe it would be a good reason to split our stay? I have lots of time to think it over. We may even "gasp" stay part of the trip off site. Then move on-site when rates go down? I have no idea yet! But I do love to plan!

We did this last year at the AKL. Since most of our stay was in the regular season rather than the peak, it saved quite a bit of money. It took very little time, less than 10 minutes to check out and back in. They did not make us move, and really if you think about it, why would they want you to move? Assuming you have the same category of room with both reservations, they need to do more to move you than to let you stay where you are. Moving was never even mentioned. If it saves enough money it is certainly worth the few minutes it takes.
