If room reservation overlaps non-discount and discount dates?

Sorry, but I wasn't sure how to phrase this.

We will be going December 26 through January 8. I know that December 26-31 is a blackout period for discounts, but there will most likely be discounts offered for the week after date.

My question is can I apply the discount to the second week or is the price given for the first day the one that applies for the entire time?

Hope this makes sense. Thanks.

The room rate, even if it's part of a package, will reflect the seasonal rate now on a night by night basis. In years past your room rate was set by your check-in date, but no longer.

However, if there is a promo offered, those generally go by check-in date. So to take advantage of any January promos you'd have to have two reservations. Disney will caution you that you may have to move rooms, but if you are at the same resort and same category you can often keep the same room, just check out and check in again. Since the pass prices are front loaded, and the DDP expires at midnight of that reservations check out day you really have to do the math when promos come out to see if the required features to get the promo are worth it for your family. If it's a % room rate reduction promo only, you may still have to check in only on certain dates to qualify.
