Hello,

I posted a slightly previous post about the order to book my ADRs-Boma, Sanaa, Le Cellier, Tutto Italia, The Wave and Raglan Road...

Since we have free dining this time-we've never even done disney dining before, DH thought (and I kind of agreed) that it would be interesting to try some different places-the only one we've done before is Boma. (which is a kind of must do for us)...and we are staying at the AKL....

ok I realize I'm rambling-we are kind of foodies and have done Cali Grill, Flying Fish, Artist's Point and Narcooses-is it worth trading in two of the above restaurants for a dinner at Jiko...:confused3

I really want to keep the Sanaa since its new and at the AKL and Raglan Road because I need a dinner in DTD...so are two of the following-Cellier, Tutto or the Wave expendable for Jiko???

I know everyone should have such tough choices....:rotfl2:

Any advice/suggestions appreciated...

Although in the past we did trade two TS for a signature restaurant, that was in the days of included appetizer and gratuity. Now I would say go ahead and eat there, but pay OOP for it....because if you do an analysis, it's not really "worth" 2 table service meals and, more importantly, that way you can sample what you like. For example, the day we ate at Jiko, there were no desserts that appealed to us, so we skipped dessert there and went over to EPCOT and used snack credits for pastries (yum!). We also shared an appetizer and then I ordered one as my entree...and we had plenty of food!

We're doing both Jiko and Cali Grill (if we get our ADRs) because we figure that with 9 nights we only have 8 full days (2 partial days) and we want to spend our partial days in the parks rather than eating a sit down meal, plus we want to eat at T-Rex which isn't on the DDP.

I might not trade 2 credits for it if I were paying for the DP, but during free dining, definitely.

We're also doing Boma ... and probably Sanaa as well. Have I mentioned we love African food? We had our wedding reception at an Ethiopian restaurant.

LOL-I'm kind of getting that vibe about you loving African food...I haven't had Ethiopian but I'd love to try it...Personally I love all those African and Asian spices and flavors as well...we've even tried Marakesh in the Morrocan Pavilion-not bad-pretty surroundings and fun but not as good as other Moroccan food I've had...

I guess its getting possible to do an African/Asian food journey around WDW...:)

Besides Flying Fish, Jiko is my favorite of Disney Dining Plan restaurants (and we've eaten at almost every one of them).

The food at Jiko is not very spiced though. You would get more of that type of food at Boma but the atmosphere and setting of Jiko is so much nicer/quieter than Boma.

I love Jiko. But I wouldn't pick it for the dining plan. Appetizers are too good. (You could always order an appetizer and pay for it - but if you're using them as entrees the way most folks I go with do, you're losing the value of the dining plan.)

I haven't eaten at Narcoosees yet but I would trade Artist Point or Flying Fish for Jiko any time - Jiko is a much better dining experience. I would keep California Grill though - Jiko is good but I think CG is just a touch better.
