If not Le Cellier, where?

Okay, I've been hearing about a lot of inconsitency at Le Cellier recently. We've eaten there several times in the past and enjoyed it (I'd say at least 4-5 meals) but we're having trouble getting in during a day when its good for us in September. We currently have a very late reservation for a different day, that I've already switched once. Anyway, I'm considering other options now. My dh doesn't seem all that insistent about it and honestly, I can make pretzel bread and the chedddar cheese soup at home.

So...now I need to figure out where to eat in Epcot other than Le Cellier. I'm willing to consider resorts as well....

We will be on the dining plan. We are a party of 2 adults, an 11yo "adult", a 6yo and a 2yo. Any suggestions?

Chefs de France - hands down! We tried Le Cellier and were greatly disappointed (the food SUCKED!). We had lunch at Chefs de France on our last trip (a spur of the moment walk up). We were seated in 10 minutes; had great service; the food was delicious; the desserts are to die for (get the Profiterolles au Chocolat!).

The Rose and Crown if fabulous. We tried it for the first time last year and ended up going twice while we are there. We also have it booked twice for this year as well!

We eat at WDW quite often. Just a 90 min ride and we can have a meal. Where we live, it's worth the drive :lmao:.

You will hear mixed review about all Dis restaurants. DH and my 2 DSs ate at Le Cellier last week. It was excellent. I've never had a bad meal there, but have read other posts from people who have.

Tastes are different and what is good to one, may not be good to another. I guess it's what you are used to. We have gotten several good meals at Alfredo's and some not so good. I find their food very inconsistent. We love Nine Dragons, but read many posts from people who don't. We love Cape May at the Beach Club. We love the appetizers at Ohana's (Poly), but don't care for the main course. We prefer dining at Kona's if we are at the Polynesian.

You will probably be given a lot of opinions and all of them will be right. It is hard to figure out months in advance what you will enjoy eating on any given vacation night. If all else fails for my family and we can't agree on meals, we usually go to a resort with a food court. Infinitely cheaper and they have something for every family member. popcorn::

Also, I wouldn't necessarily cancel something because of the reviews of others.

Absolutely agree. :thumbsup2

THanks for the input folks! Its not really about the input of others, its more that I can't get a time that's all that great for us, we've been there many times before, AND with the current popularity of the restaurant and more frequent bad reviews I figure we can try something different. I would be really unhappy to have a bad meal after having to make so much effort to get a good meal time (as it is I'll need to keep calling to see if we can get in the night we want). So its more of a "save it for the future when its not the big THING anymore"...I know Le Cellier has gone in and out of fashion a few times since I've been here on the DIS and I think they're more likely to be inconsistent when they are experiencing a rush of popularity like now.

Chefs de France...what do you think of bringing kids there? We've never eaten there but I'm a little nervous about bringing the kids. Of course we're taking them to the California Grill the same week...but I've been there and know what to expect and think it will be fine.

Thanks again...I'm still open for suggestions...

Chefs de France is fine with kids ... we're taking a 4 y/o and a 13 y/o next trip (11 of us in a Grand Gathering :grouphug: :grouphug: )

I have two kids that age and I think Alfredo's would be safe. My DDs all love fettucine alfredo or spaghetti.

If you were planning Le Cellier because of a good steak but are worried because of reviews why not take a quick walk to the Yacht Club and eat at the Yachtsman? The food was fantastic!

Spoodles at the Boardwalk gets lots of good reviews. Also Flying Fish, but that is 2 TS.
In WS we enjoy Teppanyaki, Rose and Crown and Marrakesh as well as Le Cellier. We have not tried either restaurant in France, as DH does not like french food.
Good Luck in whatever you decide.
