If Not By Sea then By Run-June '14 Cruise/Oct '14 ToT 10 Miler/Feb '15 PHM PTR

I did it because I can't stand the current leadership of Girl Scouts and they keep organizing lame events. And they wonder why their membership numbers are down..... So I pitched the idea for a Family 5K Run/Walk with a mile 'kid run' to not only promote Girl Scouts but doing something active as a family. Since 5K's and fun runs are huge right now....... It's going to be superhero themed because I figure that way Dad's/boys would be into to. I am pretty scared about undertaking this as I'm going fully monty (as in full force- NOT as in running/organizing this naked). Looking to see if I can get sponserships, I have the course map mapped out, will have DJ, best costume awards, food after, t-shirts & small medals. Trying to find a hosting site for registration that won't kill us with fees..... And it's THIS year. Not next. THIS YEAR. Yup- I'm crazy. C.R.A.Z.Y.

OMG that is so exciting! It will be a lot of work but it will also be incredibly rewarding. Keep us updated. Wish I was closer and is sign up to run (limp) it!

Planning the 5K is awesome! I was in Girl Scouts and our oldest is actually having her bridging ceremony this afternoon (she's not moving up yet, but the kindergarteners get some special recognition for everything they've done this year). I think a superhero theme would be AWESOME SAUCE! DD would so be into that! We'd be there for sure, you know, if we lived in the Chicago area and not St. Louis....

Exciting. AND Scary.

And Stressful...and, may I mention, being planned the week directly after the ToT race? Seriously, why do I do this to myself? I can't even blame anyone but me. I pitched the idea. It sounds so good when it's in my head. Like how awesome I can make it. Then, afterwards, I realized.. $hit.... I just got myself in WAY over my head!!! When am I fitting in the time to make this happen? :)

Aww.. Little Daisy K's are so cute!!! I will be leading CHarlie's K troop next year. I have lead Becca's since she was in K- so she's just finishing up her 7th year. And Sarah's since K- so finishing up her 4th.

I thought superhero would be good because I wanted this to be 'family' event and that would bring out the dads/brothers as well..... Plus, it's so easy AND fun to come up with a superhero costume.

And remember, St. Louis is not that far from Chicago . Fun road trip. Hahahaha!!!! :lmao:

Haha! I totally know what you mean. I have the same disease "over-volunteer-itis". I get flare ups all the time. Right now I have been out in charge if our county library's summer reading kick off day. All from saying "sure I'll help" lol. I guess as far as stuff goes it's not the worst thing to have. Better than "sit-on-my-butt-and-don't-do-anything-itis" lol :)

I agree! I think I volunteer so much because if I don't- I spend the whole event saying "well I could have done this better!".

Speaking of library events.. not sure your age group.. BUT I came across TONS of libraries posting stuff on the Divergent books for parties.

I know this, of course, because I'm throwing a Divergent party for my daughter in 2.5 weeks!!!!

Many, many of my ideas have come from library book parties.....

Lol I have no idea what that is. I went to a party last week at the Swan House in Atlanta where they filmed the hunger games movies and everyone was all "look they shot that here and this scene here" and I'm like "are the hunger games some kind of cooking show?" Lol

:rotfl2:

Hunger Games was Becca's original choice for a party.. but I had a hard time convincing myself it was ok to invite a bunch of 12 year olds to a party where the very concept was kids killing kids.

So then she read Divergent & changed to that. So now I'm in full party planning mode for Divergent! (It is a great book even for adults- I fully enjoyed the trilogy).

Ok, Nichole, I TOTALLY had a nice long post that I typed up the other night on the laptop, but I hit one wrong key and POOF pixiedust: it was gone! I was so mad I just didn't bother again (and I was tired), so here I am now!! Lucky you!!

Tuesday- 3.2 miles at 12:30 average pace
Wednesday- 3.2 miles at 12:30 average pace
Thursday- 3.25 miles at 11:45 average pace
Friday- 3.2 miles at 12:30 average pace

TOTAL MILES: 12.65.

I am happy with my results. I will fall behind this week due to losing today because of migraine. But oh well.

I am also introducting a day or two of biking into my routine because...

My best friend convinced me (shamed me) into signing up for THIS at the end of August:

Wow, that's small. That's a triatholon in case anyone can't read it. :)

My first! I'm doing the smaller version (they have different lengths much like running races) but I'm still terrified! It's out of my comfort zone but it will be good training. And I have my bestie next to me- so we'll go down together!

My other big news of the week.

Disney opened their Mine Ride (Finally) and I spent all day Friday fighting the MDE to get a FP+ for this ride. I finally managed after 6 hours of trying and so I am VERY excited to be riding this on June 7th!

My weekend was spent with 17 Girl Scouts at a camp. I am exhausted but we had an amazing time and the weather was great!

The hardest part of the entire weekend was not the 17 Girl Scouts- but rather I had NO CELL SERVICE FOR 2 DAYS!!! :crazy2:

Hope everyone has a great week!

Now let's see.....awesome job on meeting your running goals! Yay you! And you have signed up for your first triathalon! Wow. I am amazed at your ambition. I can't even get my butt out there to walk, let along run, bike and swim. Holy Poop! I'm excited that the Mine Train is open too! I still have 63 more days befor I can make my fastpass selections, but I know that will be one of them (or else we'll never get to ride it! :thumbsup2. You'll have to tell us all about it with pictures!! Or a video if you prefer! So, do you really like camping? Ugh! Peter has a little Aframe camper so I feel guilty if I don't go at least 3 times per summer. I would much rather be in a hotel room!! I don't like bugs or the close quarters that camper provides, but Peter likes it so I go. Grrrrrr. Yeah, and I make sure we go where there's not only cell service, but the campground must have free wi-fi! Yep, just call me the outdoors woman!!!

Tweedle! Entertain me! It's been like 2 days with no snark and I'm feeling lost. :lmao:

Ok, really I'm just procrastinating cleaning and organizing my long ignored house. Today is the day I MUST clean and get things in order...and yet here I sit, hoping that you'll distract me. ;)

THIS IS NOT THE APPROVED TWEEDLE PIC!!! WHERE AM I??!!!

I have been soooo busy. You know when you have nine hundred things on your plate and then you go and do something stupid like VOLUNTEER FOR MORE!!!

Wanna guess what I did? I still can't believe it because I SO DO NOT HAVE TIME....

I went and volunteered to ORGANIZE AND HOST a 5K run next October in our community. W T F was I thinking? I was not even drunk when I freaking volunteered to do this. 500-1000 people.

Lordy- where is my wine glass holder filled with wine when I need it?

OMG!!! You are totally insane, aren't you??? But I supposed you've run in them, so you can organize them. I think Karen needs to come up and help you. See how easily I can volunteer someone else? Yep, it's a gift!

Yay on Divergent!!! Victoria went to see it with one of her friends, so I never got to see it. I guess I'll wait for it to be on Netflix!!!!! :thumbsup2

Tweedle, so you were ok with book 2 & 3? I devoured the first book in a day or so and then was afraid to order the other two because of the reviews. I've had one person tell me the ending was fine and they don't know what people are complaining about, so maybe I can muster the courage...

after all, I liked all three Hunger Games books as well when there were a lot of complaints about the last book. :confused3

Um. No. I don't like camping. It's the things I do for my kids! :)

The movie was a sad disappointment compared to the books.

So sorry Ann, no idea how I could forget you.

I did like books 2&3. I devoured all three in a week in Arizona. I actually thought the ending was hard to take..but it was still GOOD...just not what I wanted! :) (I also liked all three Hunger Games books as well).

I've been lurking here, but is anted to jump into the book discussion. I read Divergent and Insurgent quickly. I'm having a hard time getting in to Allegiant. I hope it gets better soon!

And you're a brave woman for all of your volunteering! I'm sure the 5K will be great!

Out of the 3, Allegiant was my least favorite. But I still read it in about 1.5 days flat! The whole series takes place in Chicago and the last book in O'Hare. All are such familiar landmarks to me so I loved that aspect of the books- putting together the 'real' place I know with what they are referring to in the book.

I also felt the 3rd book had more $exual reference in it. Which, for me, is fine. But the reason I even started reading them was to gauge for my almost 12 year old. I have already told her I don't feel comfortable with her reading that 3rd book yet because of it. So I didn't LOVE that aspect of the 3rd book (because she wrote those books FOR teens.. not for Adults in the first place).

I know. So many "young adult" novels are too mature for teens IMO. I read the 1st two books quickly, but I still haven finished the last. I loved Twilight and. Harry Potter. People kept telling me I would like this series too. What are you doing for the party?

Happy Mother's Day Tweedle Dum!!! I hope you have a fabu day with the family. Enjoy!...but not too much or we'll end up having to run like THIS for the race...

I agree. Lots of things are too mature for teens. I find it hard to keep monitoring it- my Becca is pretty on the naïve side- for her age.. I mean she still believes in tooth fairy & Santa (and not just in a 'I'll pretend for mom' way). Sarah- my 9 year old is more 'advanced' than Becca in regards to that. So it's hard for me to say 'go ahead and read it' when I feel like I'm introducing her to naughty things! Perhaps I should have her 9 year old sister explain things to her! Hahahaha! :rotfl2:

For the party I'm having them come in and take the 'quiz' to see what faction they are in. Then they will make a 'bleach t-shirt' with their faction symbol. Then they will rotate between different 'faction hubs' to experience different things. Doing a 'truth' test for Candor, some dare stuff for Dauntless, some sort of service project for Abnegation, Trivia Pursuit for Erudite, and a crafty thing like flower headbands for Amity. I have a game for the Divergent too. Then the menu will be all different factions- like hamburgers and chocolate cake from Dauntless, Crackers and Cheese from Abnegation, Soda from Erudite, Apples from Amity.. I forgot what is for Candor. Lastly we'll have "Tori's Tattoo parlor" with temp tattoos.

Happy Mother's Day Tweedle Dum!!! I hope you have a fabu day with the family. Enjoy!...but not too much or we'll end up having to run like THIS for the race...

Aww. Thanks! I had a rough morning and I was pretty bummed. But a big margarita and a Mariachi band helped turn my mood!

Your cake was SO cute from Savannah! How sweet! Happy Mother's Day to you too! Your a wonderful mother to your kiddos & it shows in everything!

Happy Mother's Day to all my Dis friends! I hope it was wonderful for all of you!!!!

My week, in regards to physical fitness, wasn't so hot! It was just one of those 'off' weeks where my energy levels and my moods were on the lower level of a scale. Plus May is cray-cray busy for me. Like - every day, every hour- booked! Anyways.....

Monday- Nada. Migraine.
Tuesday- 2.2 miles at 12:30 min miles. Was aiming for 3.1- didn't happen!
Wednesday- 5.2miles on the bike. And a tweedle selfie pose.

Kinda looks like I'm throwing a gang symbol or something. For all I know, I probably am. No disrespect to any readers who are gang members. Unless you are part of the Tweedle Crew, then I totally AM throwing our gang symbol minus the Jazzirit hands. Word Up. Yo.

Thursday- 2.2 miles at 12:30 min miles. was aiming for 3.1 miles- didn't happen!
Friday- Zero. Because I was being lazy.
Saturday- 4 miles at 12:10 min miles. Was aiming for 5. Overheated at mile 2.5. In 65 degree weather. I'm in SUCH trouble for the ToT.

Total miles: Run- a pathetic 8.65 miles. Bike- 5.2 miles. Next week wont' be any better. I'm so crazy busy.........

I did manage to get more of my Fish Extender gifts done for the cruise. Woop!

This is my 'cabin' gift for all the cabins in my group. (Laura advert your eyes if want to be surprised). It's a tote with the DLC symbol that I made in Taxedo with words relating to our cruise.....

Then this is my kid gift for all kids under the age of 5. (and one for Charlie because I wanted to do it too!!!). It's a "Do you want to build a Snowman" kit with my friend Olaf.

Basically it's a personalized sand bucket with their names and parts to build Olaf in the sand (eyes, a carrot nose, stick hands, coal buttons & stick hair).

I spent most of Mother's Day morning painting Olaf eyeballs and coal buttons! :)

I'm slowly (and very slowly) getting there in regards to being ready for my cruise. I'm only about 20 days away. I am in the final countdown- and that's when I work at my best. However, I have too many other things going on this month that continues to stress me........... ayi.

Anyways.... today I was feeling so sorry for myself (boo hoo!). I spent the morning doing what I always do- which is take care of everything (laundry, fighting kids, grocery shopping)..in addition to making dinner for tomorrow... so I was downright GRUMPY when the hubby woke up (he works nights). We went out to eat - my choice. I chose Mexican because EVERYONE in my family, except me, dislikes it!

After a long wait.. I soon had a margarita the size of my head and was listening to the Mariachi band. Love!

And laughing hysterically at the comment of my Sari-Beary. She has a very mild form of Autism and she is unable to filter comments. And sometimes it's just funny... like when she exclaimed after eating some of her chicken nuggets and fries that "Mexicans make the best French fries". Yup- enjoy that authentic Mexican food my dear. French Fries all around!

And so.. now it's back to my laundry. And showers for the kids. And another incredibly CRAZY busy week. My big girl Becca dances in a ballet academy and her academy is putting on the King and I this weekend and we have tech week ALL week long (full dress rehearsal with costume, hair and make-up for several hours every day) And then she has a performance Friday night & two on Saturday - I also have Scouts.. and more Scouts! Plus- you know- that annoying thing called WORK!!!!

I need to drink more! Off to finish the wine in the fridge! ;)

Happy Mother's Day again!

Wow! You are busy! That's why my kids are all spread out in age. The activities don't overlap much!

The Divergent party sounds really fun. I bet they will all have fun! I want to come to a party that you plan! You go all out!

I'm just so so so proud. Margarita AND wine in the same night! That's my tweedle! :drinking1

It's always crazy before a trip, it's so you can really relax and enjoy the trip. And drink. Always drink. I'm glad you have finally seen the light and realize the value. ;)

Ok, I finally finished Allegiant and I see what people are talking about. I didn't hate the ending, but I definitely was hoping for better.

Sorry you were so frustrated on Mother's Day! My DH works out of town and he wasn't even here. But, my DSS brought me flowers and he sweetest card that made me cry. He is graduating next Tuesday and I am going to do a happy dance when that day is over!
