Quick question.......If I have a regular basic 5 day ticket without park hopping and I go to Magic Kingdom and then decide it is just way too crowded, can I go over to MGM with my 5 day ticket. I realize I would be using another day on the ticket, but I'm wondering if you can even do that or if you ticket will only allow you into one park a day period or would my scenario allow me into MK and MGM, but use up two days off my ticket?

No, you would not be allowed to go to another park in the same day. I would never go to WDW without the hopping feature. It is well worth the $35 IMHO. :thumbsup2

Lisa,
You would think that you'd be able to use 2 days tickets in one day at 2 parks if you wanted to, huh? But apparently, from what I have heard, it's not allowed. Why on earth Disney wouldn't allow you to use 2 days on a ticket for 2 parks in one day is totally beyond me, but apparently they don't. Weird huh?

The reason is that an extra day added onto a seven-day ticket is about $5 while park-hopping option is almost $40. The lower price for an eighth day is in recognition of the fact that additional days are considered less valuable by guests, while park hopping, even for just one day, is considered much more valuable.

I agree with BibbidyBobbityBoo -- I can't see why not. I, of course, would say "no" if you wanted to use the same day on the ticket. But if you chose to use up another full day on your ticket, I am not sure why you could not do this. I see no difference in that versus purchasing two separate tickets.

Hmmm -- perhaps a call to Disney may solve the case.

The tickets don't work that way. Disney was smart enough to figure out that with the very small cost increase for longer length of stay tickets, people would want to use them to park hop which is not want they are intended for. They want you spending $40 to park hop, not $3.

Here's the explanation from allearsnet.com

Am I allowed to use two days off of my MYW Base ticket (non-hopping) if I decide I want to go to a second park on the same day as the first?

No you are not. The tickets are sold and the computer system is based on the number of days you have, not the number of park visits. Once you have used a non-park hopping ticket at any park, the computer system will not let you use it at another park on the same day.

If they set the computer up to just ignore whether or not the ticket had been used to get into a park that day, it would just charge another day each time a park was entered. That would mean if you leave MK to go swimming in the middle of the day and then want to come back later to MK for the evening (which is currently allowed with a non-park hopping ticket), it would cost another day off your ticket.
Parrk hopping is an option you can look at to decide if the pluses of it are worth the cost. If it's not, you've saved some money. But, if you think you want to park hop, it's money well spent.

There is a huge difference in using another day of your MYW ticket and purchasing two separate tickets. A one day or base ticket costs $67.00 so two would be $134.00. Depending on the length of the ticket the OP bought an extra day can costs as little as $2.00. The price per day decreases the longer the ticket. If you try and use a non hopping ticket at a different park on the same day it will be rejected unless you add the hopping option.

If you run into a situation like the OP describes and decide you want to add park hopping you may. If you don't have the non expire option you need to do this within the 14 day limit, simply add the hopper option for $40.00. If you manage to enjoy one park per day without adding the hopper you have saved $40.00.

Your ticket allows you a visit per day not X visits.
