You didn't answer the second part of the question, Barry.
Whilst we don't fall into the 'money no object' category, we have worked out a way of staying at the resorts we really want to try. We book a rental home for the duration of the trip (normally either 2 or 3 weeks) and then spend a couple of nights out at a resort. Staying at a hotel for the entire trip would send us stir-crazy anyway (we have 2 daughters aged 18 and 15). So far we have stayed at the Beach Club and Animal Kingdom Lodge at WDW and Hard Rock and Portofino Bay at USF. In all cases we have managed to get AP rates.
I was a little bit underwhelmed with the Beach Club - it lacked something for me, although I'm not quite sure what. It is a great location, but I think I prefer the decor at YC and BW.
AKL was fantastic. We stayed shortly after it opened and we fell in love with it. The ambiance, especially during the evening, is very special. Boma for breakfast seems to have become a first day tradition now and we love Jiko too, so we've visited many times since staying there. We'll be staying again next January.
Our girls love the freedom of staying onsite at HRH. They have their own room and we give them charging privileges, so we don't see them for 3 whole days! I think HRH slightly has the edge over PBH for me, although it's a tough call. Being closer to the parks and CityWalk is definitely an advantage - it's a 5 minute walk from HRH, but around 15 from PBH unless you're really striding out.
I'm keen to stay at Royal Pacific too, although I'm not sure when we'll get to do that.
Gaylord Palms is incredible - we've visited several times to eat - and we'll be staying there next January. There are also some new hotels due to open this year which all sound fabulous.
At WDW, I guess I'd like to stay at Grand Floridian, but with so many favourites and newbies, I'm not sure it'll ever happen.
