If it's real HOT outside how COOL do you keep your house with AC of course?

I am so jealous of all of you that can sleep or be comfortable in a house that is in the high 70s or low 80s!! We have been in Nashville for 16+ years and, being originally from Oregon, have never acclimated to the oppressive heat and humidity we have from May-September. Our A/C is set at 68 in the day and 65 at night; DH would prefer a 60 at the max but that just gets too $pendy.

We barely ever run the heat in winter...only if the house dips below 58ish and then we turn it on just long enough to take the chill off.

Between 67 and 69 if I am home during the day.
65 at night. I like it cold.

70 and I would love to go lower, but my husband runs on the colder side! Needless to say, I am glad our reading library is in the basement! LOL

72 during the day and 69 at night. There are a few instances where I get cold at 72 but if I'm cleaning the house I get hot. I'd prefer to set it at 68 at night but my husband won't let me...it was set at 70 and I was just too hot at night so 69 is a compromise. :) We have an Ecobee 3 thermostat and 5 additional sensors.

I live in Phoenix and my "summer" thermostat is set at 78. Around here, that's the majority of the year.

78 in the day if were home 80 if at work and 75 at night. We use ceiling fans and a floor fan for the rooms we are in during the day. Like it cooler to sleep. Love to have it lower but I don't want to spend a fortune on electric. My electric bill usually runs around 150-170 in the summer months at this setting. Central Florida here so summers are hot.

71 is as low as DH lets me go.:coffee:

That being said, our AC cannot handle the 90's & up so we have to set it at 74 some days so our unit does not freeze out.

Also I live in St. Louis, land of humidity hell. 90's & a high dew point can literally be crushing on your chest to breath. Does not help I live in a valley 1/2 mile from the Meramac River.

78 during the day when I'm not home.
76 when I am home, unless I'm moving around a lot (cleaning, packing, etc.) and in that case, I bump it down to 73 or 74.
68 to sleep, and I have the ceiling fan on in my bedroom, as well as a small tabletop fan on the nightstand.
I live in south Georgia, where the temperature has regularly been hitting 100 degrees for the last two months.

In the winter, I very rarely turn the heater on, unless the inside temperature dips below 63 or so.

We only have bedroom air conditioners. I keep it well below 70. In the winter we keep our house at 68 during day and 60 at night plus we sleep with the windows open. I much prefer being cold than hot.

For those who keep your houses in the 60's/low 70's are you wearing long sleeves or a hoodie and using a blanket at night?

72.

I'm a warm sleeper though too, so I have a fan blowing on me as well bc my a/c unit doesn't reach my bedroom very well. We've had a very hot summer up here in Southwestern Ontario and I've only had a handful of nights where it was uncomfy for sleep.

Wow, can't believe how COLD you all keep your houses! Glad I don't live with any of you, lol!

I keep my A/C set at 82. I do NOT want to feel cold in the summertime!
I'm with you. Ours is set at 83. I just want the AC to make the air cooler than the outside, not like I'm living in the refrigerator. And 83 is definitely cooler than the 90+ temperatures we've been enduring here.
