Pretend you are me:
we are:
Me, Dh, DD-17, DD-7, DD-5 and My mom - 64. We will be spending a Saturday at AK before we leave the next day on the Wonder. My mom has never been to Disney. Where would you take this crew for supper? I want her to have a great Disney-esqe meal. Our tix will not be hoppers, so it can't be in a park. What would you do??

Anne

Since you will already be at AK, I would go over to AKL and eat at Boma or Jiko and then spend some time exploring that beautiful resort. Alternatively, I would go over to the Boardwalk, eat at Flying Fish or Spoodles and then enjoy a stroll around the lagoon after dinner.

Chef Mickey's....fun for everyone, and plenty of food choices for plenty of tastes.

Oohhh... Boma or Jiko! I didn't think of those. I've never tried them, that's probably why I didn't think of them! I would love to eat at either (I have a 16 year old who would NEVER eat there tho'!) I'll have to wait for an "adults only" trip to try them.

But, I don't know if that'd be a "disney"-type meal... I'm sticking with my original suggestions of Chef Mickey or O'hana.

Another vote for Boma. It would be a nice ending to your day at AK because you could continue with the Africa and animal theme! Plus, the food is excellent!

We stayed at AKL (4 nights) prior to the Wonder. If I were you and since you don't have alot of time I would have dinner at Boma's. It is one of the best places to eat at WDW. We have eaten at so many places over the many years of going to WDW and Boma is wonderful. Not to mention that it is at your hotel. Since you are staying there you might as well eat there too. Have a great time at AKL. Have a great time on the cruise. We loved the Wonder. The service is remarkable--even better than WDW. Your kids will have a blast. Our 5 y/o son still talks about it on a daily basis. I never thought I would take my kids on a cruise but it turned out to be a wonderful family vacation!!! We hope to go again, on the Magic, in about 5 years.

I vote for Ohana. The food and atmostphere are great. Afterwards you can take a ride around the loop on the monorail, or maybe enjoy Wishes or the water parade from the beach.

Another vote for Boma or Jiko! No disney characters, but definitely disney service and incredible food.

Tiggerbelle - don't let your picky teen keep you from eating at Boma! I have a finicky 10 year old and he did just fine. Aside from all the exotic fare, they always have pasta, pizza, fries and chicken fingers as well as a ton of fresh fruit and killer desserts! There's something for everyone there!

Given the facts, another vote here for Boma. Quite a memorable establishment with very interesting food choices for a wide variety of tastes.

BOMA! BOMA! BOMA!! The AKL will take your breath away. You can have a fabulous dinner and then go to the firepit and hear African stories told and then go to the overlooks and have a guide teach you about the animals that you can view with night googles.

Another vote for for 'Ohana!!! Can't get any better than that for food, fun and atmosphere. Ask to sit close to the window so you can see Cinderella's castle when you dine! It is DD's favorite restaurant. We took her there for her birthday last year -- she turned 10! We went with my parents, brother and sister in law in and DD in 2000 with ages ranging from 6-60 and all had a BLAST!

With 3 girls and wanting to treat your mom to a "disney-esqe" meal, I would go for the Cinderella Dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian.

Being a fan of Ohana, I would have to vote for there. Its great food and lots of fun.
Plus you will be able to explore the Poly, a bit and see the castle. If its a night for fireworks you could time your dinner around that and catch the fireworks from out on the beach. You could possibly see them during your dinner, but since a window seat isnt guaranteed, I wouldnt chance it.
