I'm so sorry for loss! We buried our cat Sabertooth when he passed away for I can't help with an urn.

I think we got Mickey maybe 6 months later. We also had another cat, Gracie, and I noticed she looked lonely. Plus I was ready. But there is no rule. You aren't replacing Pumpkin, no cat could. Whenever you want to get another cat you should.

Thanks you everyone I don't know how to ask with out sounding cold but how long did you wait to replace your fury friend. I just feel this empty space pumpkin and I were together every waking moment it seemed like

If you have a space that feels empty, go fill it. There's a cat out there that needs love and a home.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

This is the one I bought for my sweet fur baby when she passed 2 years ago. It reminds me so much of her, I smile whenever I look at it.

When the ashes were returned from our vet they were in such a lovely engraved cedar box, we decide to keep them there and use the urn for her fur. Both have a place of honor on my mantle.

Perfect Memorials has a lovely selection of items.

Our veterinarian provided a nice wooden box with a lock and key that we have sitting in our living room.

This is what our vet provided as well. Besides Freckles' ashes, we opened the box (the ashes were wrapped in a silk square) and put a lock of his fur and his collar in there along with the certificate they gave us and a copy of The Rainbow Bridge. I have it here on my desk. Along with the lock I have the St. Francis of Assisi medal he wore on his collar. I'm so sorry for your loss-losing a furbaby is terrible.

We've lost three cats over the years. After the first, we only had her sister so we rather quickly adopted two kittens. We didn't want her to be alone, but we also didn't want her to have to deal with an annoying kitten all the time. (as an aside, we always adopt 2 kittens from a rescue at a time - then they have each other). When our old girl was 16, and the former kittens were 7, we adopted 2 more kittens, knowing that our old girl wasn't going to be around much longer and it just seemed morbid to sit around waiting for her. Unfortunately one of those babies became very sick and passed away before he was 2. It was very, very sudden and heartbreaking for all of us. We have 3 cats now, the 9 year olds and his sister, who is 2. I want another kitten... but none of us are ready.

Realistically, I don't see any reason to wait a set period amount of time. It is kitten season, and there are so, so, so, so many kittens in shelters and with rescue programs that need a home right now. If you have an older cat, I would definitely consider two kittens vs just one, so that they have each other. Most adoption agencies are great about helping give you guidelines to add kittens to an existing cat-household. It's a slow process. We take about a month, at least, to do it in our home.

Good luck.

We adopted 2 sibling kittens together once. Best pair ever. When we got our most recent kitten (a couple years ago) I messed up and only got one. I really wish we had gone for 2 again. 2 years later he's still picking fights with the older 2.
