If I say it out loud, will my wish come true.. PTR May 2011(Link to TR pg41)

I think taking it easy and canceling the ADR's is a great idea. I am pretty much at that point too where I am only going to schedule a few for sure meals and the rest I will just leave up to fate.

I think it will be a great trip. As long as I get to spend some time each day in the parks I don't mind. If they try to spend the whole week in the pool I will just hit the parks alone.

I wish I could say I won't mind if everyone wants to sleep in but just b/c I am giving up planning everything doesn't mean I don't want everyone up by 7 so that we can make it to rope drop!

My friend Nicki (the food porn queen) loves Flying Fish. I can't remember if her hubby has ever had a steak there though. I've read a mixed bag of reviews on Yachtsman (similiar to Narcooses)--hit or miss. The steakhouse you are thinking of at the Dolphin (or Swan) is Shula's.

You know, I think it is really all her fault that Flying Fish is like a must do for me. Her reviews of it always look so good.

I see mixed reviews of Yachtsmans too. I really think DH would like this the best out of all of them, so this might end up being my choice. The kids menu looks a bit better too.

I think it sounds like a relaxing way to do things! If my girls weren't so insistent on character dining, I doubt we'd bother, but it's their thing for now.
I've never tried either of those restaurants, but I've heard good things about both of them. Maybe I'll get to try them once my kids don't always want to eat with Mickey or the Princesses:rolleyes1.

I wish Caitlin wanted to do character meals. If she still wanted to I would gladly book them all. I really want to do Garden Grill but she said no:sad2: I did however book Cape May and Crystal Palace for breakfast. She'll have to suffer. I have heard such good things about CM and I loved CP so I am going back for me.

The problem was we waited until she was 5 to bring her to Disney. I have told John next kid we have we are going as soon as that kid starts watching Mickey Mouse clubhouse. He thinks I am crazy of course.

I would love to do a nice dinner every night but it just seems like such a waste with Caitlin and John. We tried Le Cellier b/c I was hoping John would like it. "It was fine. It was a steak." I am afraid I'll take him to a signature restaurant and he'll try ordering a burger or something.

Since he refuses to go for 5 Years and I want to do the Half Marathon in either 2013 or 2014 you should do it with me. We could spend a couple hours running and then take a few days and eat at all the good places. (You might want to start running now)

I was just thinking about that camera this morning. I hope you find it.

Did you have fun playing with Caitlin today? She is such a cheater and she doesn't even know it. Playing board games with her drives me crazy.

Haha, yeah, I should start running now to be able to do a half marathon in 2 years...why not 2012 though? I'm going to do the Couch to 5K thing when the snow melts and it's nice out.

She gave up on that game and wanted to play Super Mario instead, but she wouldn't let me get any of the good things, like the fireball flowers or the helicopter suit, so I kept stealing her Yoshi from her and eating her with mine. :rotfl: Then I had Grandma play with her for a little while and she kept picking her up and throwing Mario and Grandma didn't want to play anymore!

Playing Mario with her is awful! She wants everything but then she dies. I did see Grandma play once and it was torture to watch how bad she was. It made Caitlin look like an expert.

I was thinking 2012 but I was kind of hoping to be pregnant by then. If that doesn't happen then I would do it 2012.

A second vote here for Flying Fish. There is the steak...and if your husband doesn't care much about food, either way, then you're really doing it for yourself and I say go for it! The red snapper, which is their house specialty, is out of this world delicious and ABSOLUTELY the type of dish you will NEVER make at home. At least I won't, and I think I'm a pretty good cook... :goodvibes

But no ADRS! :scared1: I don't know what I would do! :rotfl: But, then, we all go for different reasons and Mark and I love eating out and Max is becoming quite the pro, too. :thumbsup2 But, I have a feeling, at least one or two ADRs might go out the window, just because...well, with a three year-old, who knows? You know? And I also want to feel that if we're having a good time doing something else, why stop and rush to an ADR? Although, I am absolutely not going to miss Via Napoli, Cali Grill, or Jiko. :goodvibes

I would love to do deluxe dining again. Cali Grill and Jiko are on my to try list. When I made my adrs at the 180 mark I had CG during Wishes but canceled it. I really wish I had kept it:sad1: Jiko looks good too. If we had it my way we would do breakfast every morning, snack during the day, and a signature every night.

The one good thing about DXDP and staying at a deluxe is that at least if you cancel your adrs there is always room service.

After just reading Tina's post I just took a shot in the dark and checked the availabilty for Callifornia Grill and there was a 7:30 time available. Wishes goes off at 9. It would be so easy to take the boat from WL to CR. I guess CG is getting added to choices.

Yea, I'd go yikes at no ADR's. Those I usually don't want to change. I like having the character breakfasts, and dinner, just not lunch. I made all our breakfasts for really early, like 8ish, and dinners for early evening, like 6ish. Lunch will be on the fly. I LOVE the dxddp for that reason, the breakfasts are the BEST way to see the characters!!! Plus them dang Mickey waffles, I really really think they put a drug or something in them, cause they're just so dang good!!!!!

t still have some. We all love breakfast so we have breakfast 6 days. Caitlin also wants Sci-fi twice and T-rex. That's 9 right there. We are just not going to have a dinner every night so that we don't have to worry about being somewhere each night. I am thinking about booking WCC and maybe since we are at VWL, but not worry if we miss it. Plus, we will have whatever signature I decide on. So it really is at least 1 TS each day, I guess to me it seems more relaxed since I don't have a park planned for each day.

Gotcha!! I don't have a park for each day either, so that makes it a little more relaxed. but I do have TS breakfasts and dinners all over the place. No breakfast arrival day, since we'll be in the park before we check in, but we do have Sci Fi for dinner planned that day. I'll check us in sometime that day!! LOL I wasn't too thrilled with Sci Fi, but we had it for lunch, and it took WAY too much park time. This time it's dinner, only because that was the only one everyone but me agreed on!! LOL the food was ok, just wasn't thrilled with the Atmosphere. So, give it one more shot! Maybe we get an actual table, not a car. LOL

I was just looking at the menu for California Grill last night and decided that I have to go there on our next trip! I was going to try ONE signature on this trip, just to see what they are like, and it was going to be Yachtsman, but after seeing the menu at CA Grill and knowing we will be eating at Le Cellier most likely more than once, I think I'd rather do that!

Wow...who knew I was so persuasive? :lmao: And, if you have to, you can always cancel it later... an ADR is just that; its not a guarantee or anything. At least this way, you know you're keeping your options open.

We really liked Sci-fi. Caitlin wants to go twice which is really messing with my plans! It was nice to be out of the heat since we went at the end of May last year.

The way I change my mind we could either end up doing no adrs or dxdp with 3 ts meals a day. I guess it will depend on what mood I am in once we get closer. I would love to do dxdp for at least a few days.

I think maybe California Grill would be a good one to start with. Yachtsmen does look good, but it just seems a little boring. Plus, if I am going to annoy John I may as well go all the way.

I am surprised you guys haven't tried a signature yet. Maybe Brandon will love it and want to do all of them. There goes your shot of ever doing away with the dining plan. You'll have to start getting the dxdp.

Yea, thanks a lot! Like I really needed another thing to choose from. I think California Grill will be great choice for our first signature. I cancelled my first adr b/c I was asking DH about it and he said he didn't want to do it. I've been thinking about it and he always says no, when has that stopped me before?

I'm glad you mentioned it though, b/c I never would have looked for an adr today. Thanks! Hopefully I'll end up keeping it.

I love the options the DxDDP gives you as far as meals. I like the regular dining plan, but don't like the way it restricts you to ONE ts, and ONE cs a day. If I wanna do all 3 cs, or ts, I can. That's the best part. And the mug! I don't do the refills at the resort too much, but boy do I use these mugs at home!!! LOL

Signing up! I just went though your trip report from last year and really loved it specially because we were there at the same time and we seem to have done some of the same stuff on the same day.
We are also going back this May and our dates will overlap again.

Coool, eh?

I will come back later to catch up with you PTR.

I loved the dxdp last year! I really like doing a TS breakfast each morning. We did them all at 8 am last year so that they didn't interfer with park time. I really loved the character ones, but Caitlin doesn't want to do them for some reason.

The regular ddp would be a waste b/c I don't think I would end up using all the cs credits, plus I would have to schedule sme dinners since TS breakfast are a waste of credits.

I love my mug too! The extra snacks are great too.

I am going to check out your trip report. Are you going to do a pre-trip report when you finish?

I can't wait for it to be May already!

Kassidy absolutely loved the Cali Grill. They have a fruit bowl appetizer that isn't on the kids menu, but the waiter suggested it when she didn't see anything else she liked and it was almost too pretty to eat. I have pics of it back in my dining review. And her "sushi" dessert with the rice krispie treats and the gummy fish was just too adorable for words. I hope you have a great time! We are almost at double digits! :thumbsup2

I am going to have to go back and check out your food report again.

Didn't you try HDDR? I am thinking of having a non planned arrival day and doing HDDR at 7:15. Is it worth it or should I just book WCC for dinner since we won't have to leave the resort?

Remember all of our talk about a full timer breaking a leg or something? There are 4 full timers on the 4-12 shift. One of them had to have emergency surgery last week and will be out for at least 2 months. His wife is one of the other full timers 4-12 so she will be out for a few weeks. There are so many 4-12 shifts available, I could pretty much work full time the next month and a half. Too bad I hate 4-12. I did sign up for about 3 each week just b/c I feel really bad for him and wanted to help out.
