Hi, all! I'm planning an upcoming trip to Villas at Wilderness Lodge, I have a two-bedroom reserved. When I reserved it, I was expecting close family to be coming on the trip with us, and thought sharing a two-bedroom would be fine. Now, it looks like my family members can't go, so I may ask friends to go instead. However, if we are going with friends instead, I'd really like a lock-off so we can have more privacy, can come back to the room late at night without disturbing anyone, etc.

My understanding is that half the two-bedrooms at VWL are lock-offs. However, some of those may already be booked as individual studios and one-bedrooms. So, I don't know how many two-bedroom lock-offs are generally available for people who request them.

What do you think my chances are of getting a lock-off? Is there any way to know in advance if we'll get one?

A lock-off is not a request, but a booking category. If you want a 2-bedroom lock-off, you have to reserve a 2-bedroom lock-off.

Does your current reservation show your room as dedicated? If so changing to a lock-off would be a new reservation.

Didn't realize that. Thanks for the info, Michael and Bill!

Let me share my experience...

We booked a 2BR LOCK-OFF at AKV-K (I specified it at the time I made the reservation at the 11-month window) because we had my family, my parents and my friend and her 2 DD's (9 people) on our reservation. My friend was not actually staying with us, but they were planning on coming to visit for a day and so we wanted to make sure they had access to the pool.

When we checked in, we were given a DEDICATED 2BR:scared1:. (Won't go into the reasons, but it was IMPERATIVE that we have a lock-off). I went to the front desk and explained that we were not given the proper room. I showed them my printed confirmation that clearly stated the L/O was confirmed. They told me that the resort was full and there were no L/O's available. I asked them how that could be since I have a confirmed reservation. They half-heartedly apologized and offered to move us the next day. We tolerated the one night in the dedicated and moved the next day to the L/O...only to find out that it was a H/A unit:headache:. My guess is that someone checked into their 2BR earlier than us, didn't want the H/A unit and then asked to be moved, resulting in them being put into our L/O 2BR.

I politely "complained" to the manager and sent an e-mail to DVC member satisfaction. I explained that since the L/O is a GUARANTEE and not a request, that is what I expect to receive when I book one. The manager at the resort comped us $200 and DVC returned the 46 points we'd used for that night. All in all, I am completely satisfied with how it turned out. I just want to warn you:hug:...
