If I rent a confirmed/dedicated reservation?

We are new to renting DVC points. I just booked a confirmed reservation through David's DVC for a week this month and paid the deposit. I am anxious as I wait for proper confirmation, as David's is closed for the evening, but is it a for sure that I should have this booking since it was a confirmed/dedicated reservation? I know when you put in a request to rent, you aren't always guaranteed, but are confirmed/dedicated reservations actually confirmed? Sorry if my lingo is wrong. As I said, we usually are suckers and pay rack rate for our Disney trips. This is our first time renting and I want to cancel our reservation with Disney, but don't want to pull the plug if this reservation doesn't come through.
 
I just rented out 2 confirmed reservations thru David’s today. If you paid the deposit, they should notify the owner tomorrow and have them change the names over to yours. Pretty sure the reservation is yours!

I made my deposit for a confirmed reservation a couple of weeks ago, and it took three days to have the reservation transferred to my name. It all depends on the owner and their schedule, and the wait times for calling member services since changing the lead guest cannot be done online. You should be okay!

Did you receive any confirmation that in fact it was yours before the 3 days. I have to cut our previous 12 night stay at All stars down to 5 since we are now doing BLT for 7 nights. The All stars availability is there now....but worried it won't be if I wait. Eeek. Maybe I'll just take the plunge and modify the value resort portion now.

Actually, you can change the lead guest online - but you have to do it through chat, which is not always available. If you find out the phone wait is long when you call, it would be worthwhile to try chat while you're on hold. If chat is not available, keep refreshing, you may find that chat opens up.

Now the Owner needs to contact DVC Member Services to tell them that the name of the person using the reservation will be different. The Owner has to do this either by calling DVC Member Services or by doing online chat with DVC Member Services. The Owner cannot make the change themselves.

Unfortunately, when an Owner calls DVC Member Services, the wait time can be ridiculously long.

I think the DVC website has to be in working order for chat to work. And the DVC website has been a mess this week. Even when the website is in working order, sometimes chat is not available.

Making the change should be quick and easy for the DVC Owner, but this week it's probably not.

Thank you! That makes sense. I suppose I will have to be patient! We leave in 2 weeks, so the fact that all of my ducks aren't in a row is making me go grey!

No! It was 2 poly reservations! I called member services 2 times yesterday to change the names on the reservations. An hour wait each time. Not too terrible. The renters were told the reservations were theirs right after.

Hey! Yes! Here is the timeline I experienced. I found the dedicated reservation last Wednesday. Paid the deposit Wednesday night after David's was closed for the evening. Thursday morning I received an invoice and paid David's in full. Then Friday morning I received confirmation that the reservation had been put in our name by the original owner and was able to put the reservation in MDE. All in all it was pretty fast, but in the moment when I was waiting it seemed to take an eternity. I had a number of changes that I needed to make to three families' reservations, so I was a bit high strung until I received the final confirmation. But all is good now and BLT here we come in 9 days! I hope you hear soon about your reservation!

Ours is taking a lot longer :( Last Tuesday (late, after they were closed) we paid our deposit, and they confirmed Wednesday that the owner just had to transfer the reservation over to us and then we would pay out the rest once that was completed. We didn't hear anything so I emailed Sunday because I wasn't sure if I missed a step or something. But they replied that "unfortunately" there is no timeline for transfers and it at the discretion of the owner and that's what they were waiting on and again they would take our payment after the owner transferred the reservation. They were pretty curt. It's of course now almost close of business Thursday and we haven't heard a word. Keep fingers crossed for us! We also booked for BLT! Hope your vacation is absolutely magical!

Just wanted to let you know our confirmation came through today! We are so excited!!! Let me know if you have any tips or tricks after your stay at BLT-it will be our first time!
 
Technically it is not yours until you check in. The members always controls the reservation until then.
