If I join DVC now,do you think I can go in December?

We would like to buy AKV in DVC and go in December. When I ask my guide if he thinks we could go he says sure but I know you all have more honest answers. If we buy now, what would be the chances of us getting to go in the first two weeks of December? We would be going for five nights and would not have a preference - studio, one-bedroom, or two bedroom- at any resort would be fine.

If our chances would not be good, we would probably go in December and stay at a moderate resort and pay cash and buy DVC later in the year so we could have an Aug or Sept UY.

It will depend upon when in December you want to travel, and if you are picky about which resort. We don't know for sure when Kidani will come online. If it opens prior to December, your chances are very good, as AKV owners will likely have a short priority window for those rooms when the reservations begin.

Otherwise, SSR and OKW will be your best bets for availability, and you wouldn't be able to book those until May.

if you're really that flexible, there should be something somewhere in Dec and you can waitlist for whatever you want, too. There's a December waitlist thread around here somewhere for all of us who are already waitlisted even before the 7 month window opens. I'm on a waitlist at AKV for Dec 2, just one night, for 1 bedroom savanna view. I booked Dec 3-8 day by day at the 11 month mark but then we later decided to come a day earlier. December really is a time to book day by day at your home resort.

Just as long as you leave us a Epcot area studio for early December. Waiting on the announcement of narrators for the CP before we try an book a room. Didn't have any problems last year but now there's a ton of developer points out there.

When we decided to buy in January we had already booked a resort stay for April for us and DD, SIL and grandkids (not sure of the abbreviation for them but I'm learning) at the Caribbean beach, had flights and everything. So when talking to our guide I pointed out that in order to pull the trigger I had to know absoultly that DVC property was available for the specific week and that we could book something through DVC in place of the resort - the downpayment was coming from the ability to cancel the resort stay - couldn't afford to pay for both!.

He found us two studios at SSR and put a hold on them pending the receipt of the downpayment and finaincing approval. Once we had all the approvals done we "finalized" the SSR stay and cancelled the Caribbean beach reservation.

I'm guessing if it means a sale, the guide will be glad to hold the space for you for a day ro two to get everything sown up.

if you arent picky as to where you stay then I bet you'll be able to get something at SSR or OKW........those two ALWAYS seem to have something available! I would be confident that you'd be able to get in for early December. Now if you were talking late December this would be a whole other story!

Yes there will be availability, just don't be too picky.

Also, don't be afraid to waitlist either, if all of your days are not available.

You'd need to call member services and rebook, just like Boardwalk View & Standard View, I'll bet Kidani is its own booking category.

We did the same when we bought at BWV in 2005. Our guide found us a 1 BR BWV for our nights before we agreed to purchase. We bought within the 7 month window for a stay during F&W.

So talk to your guide and see if he really wants to make the sale. -Suzanne

rstack, we are in a very similar position. We already made and still do have ressies for Dec. at the Contemporary for 12/6 thru the 13th thru a travel agent. The problem is I attempted to use the dev. points to make a ressie with MS on a Friday back in Feb., I did and extended our vacation two more nights, the 6-15th. Then I called the airline to change our tickets based on the updated ressie. Our DVC guide said we could do this b/c it was a non DVC resort. On Monday I get a call from MS telling us they couldnt do it b/c of the 7 mth dev. points policy.
So currently we still have the 6-13th (cash ressie) at the CR but we sooooo much want to be able to cancel that and use our Dev. Points instead.
Long story but I am nervous especially since our flights were changed based on MS.
We have two months to wait till out 7 mth window. Say a prayer for us please.
