Hi all...

First let me start out by saying how great I think everyone is on these boards. The way you all band together is just amazing.

I need to ask for some prayers :( for my mom who is having cataract surgery the end of April. She is a little nervous ~ minor surgery but surgery is surgery and when you are messing with the eyes it's kinda scarey. She is only having the one eye done now as the other is not that bad.

Then I have to have a lump removed this fall. I had one removed a few years ago and it's back and bigger. The doctor says it's benign (phew!) but once they get in there you never know. I haven't yet had to have a mammogram since I am younger (27) than they think is necessary but all the prayers and pixie dust I can get would be so much appreciated.

Thanks!

Prayers and pixie dust for both of you. My grandma had cataracts removed when she was about 75, she did great and loved it.

Awww, your mom will be fine. I've seen countless number of people have cataract surgery. I agree though, anything with the eyes is scary! Don't forget to post closer to the date of her surgery so we can remember her in our prayers.

And I'm so glad your growth is benign. Not knowing can be terrifying!

My prayers are with both of you. Have no doubt you'll both be fine.

Best wishes.

Stacey, my prayers are with your mom right now. I hope all goes well with her surgery. I know my grandmother had it several years back and she did just fine :)

Also so glad to know that your lump is benign. Wishing you the best as you go through the surgery to remove it.

PD on its way. Be sure to keep us updated on how things go.

And welcome!!

Welcome to the boards. My mother-in-law had cataract surgery not that long ago and she's doing fine. Here's some pixie dust to help for both of you. :D

Good luck to your mom.:) I took my grandmother for cataract surgery many years ago and she did great.:) The hardest thing for her was putting the eye drops into her eyes. So I stayed with her so I could do that for her. Does your mom normally have a problem putting drops in her eyes? My grandmother was amazed that she could actually see light a lot better after her surgery.:)

Good luck to you this fall. Why are they waiting so long?

I'll pray for both of you. {{hugs}}

My very best wishes for a good surgery for your mom and you both, Stacey. Wow, why the wait till fall?? Hope all goes well, I am sure it will.

I'll keep you guys in my prayers. I've known several people who had cataract surgery and said it was not that bad. I agree that having something done to your eyes sounds frightening to me too.

I've never had a lump removed, but my mother has. She said the trauma of worrying was worse than the surgery. Wish there was a way you could have it out now. I did have breast cancer and a mastectomy. Good for you for getting your checkups. I always cheer for ladies who take care of their breasts. ;)

You got it. :) My grandmother has had several sugeries on her eyes. I don't know how she does it! My eyes are SOOOO sensitive I can't stand for anyone to be near them!

You guys are the best! Thank you so much for all your prayers. My mom is ok with the surgery ~ she knows it will help her but it's always a little nerve wracking...

The surgeon is waiting till fall because I really don't know why :(
See, and I don't know if this is TMI or not but back in 1999 I had another lump that went from the size of a pea to the size of a half dollar when I had it out (a matter of 4 months) Now, that I have this other one although it is benign, she doesn't want me to just "carry it around" in my body when I am so young if I don't have too. Which, I guess is good that she is concerned but it's still causing a little concern because you just never know when they get in there what they might find.

I really appreciate all your well wishes ~ it brought tears to my eyes.

I'd also like to pass along my thoughts and prayers to all the mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, sons and daughters who have family members overseas. We are behind you 110%!!! May God Bless You!

Good luck to you and your Mother. I see by your signature that you must like the Carribean Beach Resort!:) I've never stayed there, but it is a place I'd like to try some day.:sunny:
