If I call in room location request, should I leave blank on online check-in?

We're staying at OKW 2 bedroom starting on July 28th. I want to request Hosp House and another area for room location, thinking that Hosp House may not be fully booked right now by DVC owners. That area is not an option with online check-in. So when I do online check-in, should I pick my 2nd choice area, not pick an area (just pick floor or near transportation) or make no requests? I don't want to cancel out my phone in request, but we have to do online check-in now, correct? Thanks!

If you are going to make a phone in request then leave the online check in request area blank. That is the safest way to handle it. :)

I originally put my requests in on the online check in, but later decided to call in my requests. They removed my requests from the online check in, so it looks like not adding requests on the online check in is the way to go.

Will they take room requests from a point renter, or does OP need to go through the member?

I actually just messaged the chat and found out that you can shoot them a message the morning of check in and they should be able to tell you if your requests have been fulfilled or not!
Who should you message to see if it was fulfilled? The MDE chat?

Can you just rebook into Hospitality House? It’s the same number of points.

We only use the call-in request now, because the online are to generic and we found that when we did both, that they only went by the online check-in request:( So that was the last time we ever used online check-in room requests, now we just skip that part. I will definitely give the chat message a shot on the day of check-in.

Respectfully, I wouldn't trust that. Having never heard differently, I would think the Room Designers are still doing that work a few days ahead, i.e. more than one, less than five.

I thought the same thing too, but the way I think it works is that the rooms are still assigned 5ish days out but the day of, the chat people can “see” the assignment made because it’s check in day.

An update to the MDE chat and messaging morning of—I read over the chat again and I think I slightly misunderstood. The guy said that I can message morning of and they can connect us to the resort directly to verify that the room requests are acknowledged—not that they are necessarily fulfilled. Then around 3pm he said that you can message again to see if they have been fulfilled—I’m assuming this means once your room is available. I think the reason why it has to be morning of is because that’s when the feature to chat with the front desk becomes available. Back in June they announced they were adding the chat feature to the app: “Beginning June 22, you can chat with a Resort Cast Member via the My Disney Experience app for assistance during your stay. This new feature will offer convenient support nearly anytime—so there’s no need to visit the Lobby or stand in line.”

I guess it’s a way of encouraging people to skip the front desk so they don’t have to ask if their request has been seen and fulfilled, which is what we did in March. We’ll probably message in the morning saying that our requests are more important than our room being ready early and wait for that “room is ready!” text, then just look at the Touring Plans room finder.
