a view of the parking lot?????

I currently have a one bedroom suite booked at RPR at a rate of $279. I originally tried to book a waterview with two queens, but there are none available. I'm now thinking that $279 is quite a bit and we (my 16 year old son and I) can have just as much fun with a less expensive room.

If I book the standard room with two queens, is there an area I can request that will give us any kind of view, other than the parking lot?

Thanks for your help!

Last summer my nephew booked a standard room with the Entertainment Rate of $99 ( I think it's now $110) and he had a great view of the Hulk and the fireworks.

Thanks - that gives me some hope. I think I will call this morning and change the reservation. I am Loews Gold and I have a postcard that offers me a free upgrade if available at check-in. Maybe I will get lucky and spend a lot less $$$.

I stayed in Concierge and had a view of I-4 and an exit ramp!!!! But to be honest, there are no balcony's so it isn't like we sat & watched the cars drive by....

We had a standard room last Sept and had a partial pool view. A little obstructed by palm trees but not to much.

Thanks for your replies. I called this morning and changed from the one bedroom at $279 to a standard room at $110. I can do a lot with an extra $169 per night. My husband can't go with us this trip, so I think this will be fine for my son and I.

By th way, we are checking in next Sunday (July 20th) and I was able to get the Entertainment Rate at this late date.

We are checking in on the 20th as well. Hope you and your son have a good time. This is our first trip, me, DH and DS. :bounce: We have one of the water view rooms reserved. I really would like to have a view of the fireworks. Does anyone know what rooms would be best to see that?

Sherries:

I hope you have a great time, too.

This is our first time at RPR. We have stayed at HRH and Portofino Bay in the past. We are joining my cousin, her children and her mother. This is their first visit to Universal. I am Loews Gold and have a postcard for an upgrade if available at check-in. I don't have my hopes up though because I have booked the room at the Entertainment Rate of $110. Since the Loews First rules changed effective June 1st, I doubt I'll get any upgrade, even with the postcard.

Anyway, enjoy your stay. If you see two middle aged women, a very spry 85 year old and four teenagers, say hello!!!

Sherries:
I had booked a water view room for when I was there 7/2 - 7/7. When the guy was taking us to our room he opened the door and people were already in there. Oops!

So he went back to get another room. He said we got a better room this time. I asked why. He said the first room had a view of the water and parking lot. This one has a view of the water and the Hulk. How lucky was that! My room number was 1327. Tower 1 3rd floor which is the same floor as the lobby. It was pretty conveinent.

Thanks for the room information. A previous thread mentioned room 1610 as having a great view as well. Sounds like tower 1 is a good one. We'll hope for that.

8 more days . . . yee ha!

That was me who recommended room 1610! We just returned on Sunday and had a great time. I couldn't get room 1610 as it was already taken. We were assigned rooms 1428 and 1426 (adjoining) and no complaints with the view here either. The only difference was the walk from the elevator was a bit longer and sometimes the hallways were really cold (especially when wet from the pool)

Noseybuddy, we were there 6/6-6/11 so we may have passed each other at some point who knows as we were in Tower 1 also.

To those who are just ready to leave, I'm so jealous! We had a great time but it went too fast!!
