IF free dining is extended, what about room only?

Dates for room only discounts are generally a bit wider than free dining. Between free dining and room only, it seems that free dining gets all the attention. I'm working on some dates to share...but at the moment, focus seems to be on the free dining portion.

Last time, I leaked that room discounts would release the same day as free dining and they did. I see no reasons so far that tell me otherwise this time.

No patience here either - we aren't included in FD so my only hope for a discount now is RO. We are going either way but it would be nice to have a discount for sure!!!

Thank you, Joe!! Since we have the Disney Visa, that will help. I guess I'll hold off on using that FD pin I got! I haven't even checked on availability, but it says we need to book by August 14th so we will hopefully have room to wiggle if room only doesn't come out.

We would prefer a Room Only discount. When I'm on vacation, I just don't know about keeping track of the credits and thinking of where I can or can't eat. Maybe I don't want the dessert where we are - I'd rather have a Mickey Bar in a couple hours, etc. Also, depending on the percentage, the room discount at the poly trumps dining for our family.

I have a RO reservation booked with only a AAA discount. If a look up availability online one of my nights isn't available. I know if a RO discount comes out it is subject to availability. Since I have the room booked do I have better chance or doesn't it matter? I am trying to come up with backup plans so I am prepared on 8/1.

Nope. If its sold out now at rack rate then there isn't a room left in the inventory to discount.

This is us too. I am so excited to hear that the RO discounts usually have less black out dates. I was really hoping there is some discount for our dates. I feel like I did a better job getting a deal.

You aren't really canceling, you are modifying.

But otherwise, yes, no need to offer a discount if all the rooms for that date/category/resort are already full.

Does anyone know what the discounts usually are for this time of year? I'm trying to crunch the room only discount vs free dining numbers but am not sure what percentage off to expect? We are hoping to stay at POFQ but it seems like that one only gets 5% off usually? Thanks!!

I would guess that the mods (except POFQ) will be 20-25% off. Values 15-20% (except AoA). Deluxes 25-30% (except the monorail resorts and occasionally some AKL categories, which tend to be less)..

Pure speculation on my part based on past years and comparable seasons this year

Thanks! I think we're going to hope for free dining at POFQ and if not, RO at POR. I really don't want to end up in the Bayou section, but not enough to possibly pay an extra 20%! The totals for free dining vs RO/paying for food are coming out as kind of a wash for us.
