If dvc were a Monopoly game

Hi,
I was just thinking to myself, what if DVC had its own Monopoly game version. What does everyone think would be equivalent?
Buses, boats, monorail, bikes could be the railroads. Anybody have other ideas (most likely better than mine)?

Just food for thought....

Boardwalk is kind of obvious (although, some might place BWV in the Baltic position to keep reservations down)!

So, can we put Blizzard Beach anf Typhoon Lagoon down as co-Water Works?

Can we have "Go Offsite" cards? Go offsite, go directly offsite. Do not pass Magic Kindom. Do not collect Pixie Dust. (That would be worse than jail)

I'm sure others can do better!

I think the "Railroads" need to be Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney Studios and Animal Kingdom.

I would also advocate using Conceirge Collection and Interval International as "Chance" and "Community Chest."

We picked up the Monopoly Disney Edition on our recent trip to WDW. It is very cool, but the themes are geared towards the movie characters. It would be fun to have the different WDW resorts and attractions as the properties.

Oh, that is too funny!

I would make the "GO" space the entrance to WDW itself. And every time you passed it, instead of getting $200, they took a much larger sum from you!!!

I think "Jail" should be "Work" and the cards "GO TO WORK, GO DIRECTLY TO WORK".

The twins card can be replaced with there are five people in your party. If you aren't on a deluxe property you must pay double the rent.

That's great!

I also think instead of houses and hotels, there should be castles and rides that you could buy for your property. That way you could put a Monorail near everything.

"Free Parking" would be OKW there is plenty of parking spaces there.
"Go to Jail" waiting for the bus to take you back to your DVC resort after Illuminations
"Passing Go" would be all the ATM machines
"New York Ave" would be SSR
"CT Ave" would be Gail Hayden and PamOKW-Gail would have a smoking room of course
"Get Out Of Jail Free" card would be if a taxie cab offered to take you back to OKW from AK
"Park Place" would be the concierge service at GF
"Board Walk" would be Board Walk
"Luxury Tax" would be the State of Florida

Here is what I think should be part of a 'DVC' monopoly game:

'Go to Jail' = Pop Century
'Luxury Tax' = Daily maid service
Instead of playing with money, play with points. The one with the most points wins.

Here's a few thoughts....(I have borrowed a few from others )

GO should be "Welcome Home" - the start of each DVC vacation

The colored properties should each be for a difference resort...since there are now 7 DVC resorts and 8 colors of Monopoly properties, I'd name Baltic and Meditteranean as "Comtemporary" and Polynesian" - the resorts that started it all at WDW.

The rest of the colored properties - I'll name a few of the properties and happy to accept others' thoughts:

Light Blue - OKW
1) Turtle Pond
2) Hospitality House
3)

Purple - HHI
1) Beach House
2) Shadow's Dog House
3)

Orange - VB
1) Shutter's
2) Tiger Lilly
3)

Red - BWV
1) Community Hall
2) Keister Coaster
3)

Yellow - VWL
1) Artist's Point
2) Fire Rock Geyser
3) Silver Creek Falls

Green - BCV
1) Stormalong Bay
2) Beaches and Cream

I did the resorts in date order (although I didn't check the HHI/VB dates), so as not to create any debate (I thought the pastel blue was perfect for OKW anyway)

Here's the rest of the spaces:

Income Tax = Annual Dues (could vary dues once someone owns a monopoly in one of the resorts)
Community Chest = Member Services ("You are asked to do a phone survey, skip a turn")
Chance = DVC Sales Center (I can only imagine the cost of the "you buy an add-on" card)
Jail = Offsite
Railroads = MK, EPCOT, MGM and AK
WaterWorks/Electric Company = World Passport/Concierge Collection (if you own both, people have to pay rent and a "transfer fee")
Free Parking = Valet Parking (pay undetermined amount for a tip)
Go to Jail = Stay Offsite
Luxury Tax = Daily Maid Service

Well...any other thoughts?? (Did I forget any??)

Thanks so much for the input so far. After reading your great ideas, I thought I would throw in a couple of my own.

-railroads=theme parks

-electric company and water works=Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach

-each property would have corresponding points to be used for income tax = annual dues

-game pieces could be bikes, boats, monorail, railroad, bus, etc

-baltic and med. could be dvc waiting room and demo rooms

-then each 3 color block could be a different resort
OR
-have baltic and med. = vero beach, then go around the board until the last row, ending with the last 5 properties (green and blue) being all boardwalk?

-chance=pixie dust

-community chest=vacation magic (princess tea for 4, pay $400)

-jail=bus stop? (I think work is just an awesome idea though)

- go=welcome home, collect 200 points (if you go by using points and not money as someone else has suggested, another awesome idea)


Can we come up with 3 concepts for each resort? I have yet to make my first trip home, so please keep the ideas coming in!

Possibly a game piece repesenting each resort....Maybe a bit tough...but with some creativity we could do it...
