I'm also glad it wasn't built in the UK because like some of you have mentioned... I always think of going to disney as a holiday too. It just wouldn't have been the same if it had been built here! Somewhere a little warmer would have been great though............
Part of me would have loved for it to have been built closer to home - we're in Surrey so anywhere off the M25 would be so close that we'd have definately have annual passes and we'd most like have family members working there (BiL worked at DLRP years ago and would love to work there again)
But if it were that close there would be no way that you could call a visit a holiday, it'd be a day trip like Legoland and tbh I think we'd all take it a little bit for granted.

Like if the 2 parks were there, and Dreams was happening, you'd be worth staying a night or two.
We just had 4 nights in Center Parcs in Elveden. We live in Surrey too, so it's very close (well under 2 hours) and it was a lovely break.
I think had the decision been made that it would have worked in the UK, Disney wouldn't have let it become just another Chessington. They have a name to uphold.
And I imagine that UK CMs could probably do just as good a job, if not better than a lot fo the French do.
After all, if it had been built in Rome and then we'd done a post saying "would DLRR have worked in Paris" I'm pretty sure everyone would be saying "No, it wouldn't be the same becuase of X,Y & Z"
We would never have gone and I think it would have been as expensive as here too
Wouldn't have minded Spain but all the people who don't like the smoking, pushing, lack of queueing etc wouldn't be too happy I bet
I go every week to 10 days when the weather is good (so not this week ) and I stll find something that makes me smile. Think it depends why you go and what you are looking for as to wether you'd get bored or it would no longer be "magical"
