on the day you switch resorts? I know you have until midnight to use up credits from resort #1...and you now have new credits activated for resort #2 on the same day...to me it is the same as if youu did not switch...we will be at WDW resorts for 8 total nights, so 8 total TS per person, 8 CS etc.....and the split stay would be 3 nights/ 5 nights, so total 8...just limited to using them in groups of 3 and 5....but just wondering if there is a glitch I am missing. I guess a beneifit is if you need to use 2 TS for a meal, that switch day would be beneficial as in having them available w/out "saving" them from a prior day...but that is about all I can figure.
Thanks for any help out there!

That's pretty much how it goes. While you see yourself as a guest for 8 nights, the Disney computers see you as a 3-night guest and as a 5-night guest. So, you would have any leftover credits from the first ressie to be used on you checkin day at the second resort. You would also have all the credits from your second ressie available to you from the moment that you checkin at that resort.

You would just need to be careful to make sure that you use the credits from the first resort before they expire.

Yes, it counts as two seperste bookings, you get one set of credits for each night you stay (so you don't get 2 for the cross over day). Each books credits needs to be used during that booking.

We had a split stay last Fall during free dining.

It was at the same resort, but 13 nights, and the maximum is 10.

On our switch day we ate at Coral Reef, which was 2 TS at the time.

Before our trip, I realized this, and called to ask if we were able to use the credit from our final day combined with the credit from the new card. I was told yes. I should have asked more than once.

Coral Reef couldn't use the credits that way. I told the CM about the 2 cards before ordering, and she said it couldn't be done, but that the resort would probably be able to work it out for us. We could put one meal on the plan, and pay for the other 2 meals.

We went ahead & ate, because we knew we would have trouble getting in to another restaurant. Couldn't help but worry about the resort fixing it - it was our most expensive meal & we wouldn't have eaten there OOP.

The resort was able to fix it, but it was very time consuming.

Curses, I have to count it all once again! We have two 10 day ressies and I thought I had it all worked out perfectly. :confused3

I am so grateful that FINFAN brought this subject up though as I sure would rather recitify any problems now rather than later.

although i'm sure all the split-stayers know this, remember that you have to have tickets (minimum one day) w/each stay to qualify for free dining...

Yeah, we know about the base tix....planning on letting DD use them in her next trip...she won't have the hopper option, but will have 4 single day admissions....It isn't the MOST economical way to do a trip, but in our case we can experience the resorts we'd like to try and get great dining in one trip...when you are staring at 4 airfares, for us it is less expensive to do it all in one trip than return again shortly ( as much as we'd like to)...and we can never do it more often than every 16-18 months, so an AP does not work well. Plus...DD college looming...but glad you pointed it out...if not prepared those base tix can really be a financial surprise at check-in!
