... Does anyone ever book this package with the intention of NOT going to the show, but just for the food? Just curious.

I wouldn't dream of not going to the Candlelight Processional!!! I think the show is WONDERFUL!!!!!

The price for the "package" is a good deal to me - we always eat at least one meal in Epcot anyway. It comes out about the same for what we'd pay. The added bonus is that you don't have to wait in a long line - and you know you will have seats for the show. (Also, for the three years we've gone, you also got a 15% discount on purchases made that day!!!)

We're going to miss the Candlelight Processional and MVMCP this year - we're trying MNSSHP!!
Can't wait!!!

I read a post the other day where someone booked the CP twice. One they will enjoy the meal and the show and the other, just the meal.
I look at it this way. We have always wanted to eat at CHefs De France, we definetly want to go to the CP so for the money I get both. THats why I can't beat it.

If it were just me and my husband, then I would go for it in a heartbeat. But there's no way my 5, 7 and 9 year old can eat $10.99 worth of food. And the usual kids fare (chicken strips, french fries, hamburgers, mac 'n cheese, etc.) does not require a high level of expertise to prepare. I'm almost ticked that they basically are charging you for a show they claim is a freebie with park admittance because apparently during Christmas week the package will likely be the only way you can get a seat to the show. I'm taking a wait and see approach. We're staying concierge and if we feel we can stretch our budget to take in the show with a package, we'll see if concierge can get us in. If not, then we won't be crushed.

While the savings are certainly not huge, the meals will be a little cheaper with CP. The bonus of having a seat at CP and knowing that I already have 2 PS's out of the way, is just awesome.

I booked the Rose & Crown mainly to get the time that I wanted for dinner so that we might could see Illuminations. I doubt that we will catch CP that night.

I booked Le Cellier with the full intention of seeing CP that night.

We looked at what the menu looks like and what we imagined we might eat under CP. See below for the cost breakdown.

VickiVM,

One solution to your legitimate gripe is to choose Garden Grill, assuming you like the offerings there. The usual children's price for that meal is $9.99, so the $10.99 CP price actually costs less than the usual price plus gratuity. Of course your children probably still won't eat $10 worth of food, but it feels better than paying $11 for a $5 children's meal.

We always book the CP dinner package if we visit at the holidays. Last time we ate at Le Cellier and it was great. The CP is one of the most moving shows I have ever seen at WDW. It is a not to be missed event and you get special seating with your CP dinner package.

Just for the record; I agree that CP is a wonderful show and I wouldn't miss it either. Just curious about how many see it as a dining event.

I look at the dinning package as a way to be able to sit and watch Candlelight Processional. On the weekends when locals come, it is more crowded trying to get in without the package. A few years ago before 9/11 I had heard folks say they stood in the standby line during all 3 shows and still could not get a seat. They were not happy and really gave us that had the package some dirty looks. If you are going in early Dec and go during the week you can usually sit and watch the show or stand behind the seats not too many deep. If the narrator is very popular then all the above does not hold. LOL I find for me and DW it is break even for less. In past years they had using the badge a discount on shopping in EPCOT. This year I was told no discount. This show is a must for us so we have our ressies and waiting to see who our narrator is.
