Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

How many rooms at FQ have bathtubs now? Curious which room type of room I should book to have the best chance at a bathtub room? For example, do any of the king rooms have tubs?

First floor rooms have bathtubs. Check the accommodation buildings drawings at https://www.portorleans.org/frenchquarter-accommodation.php to see exactly what each room is like.

I tried to get a snip that would show you two floors. This is parts of first and second floor in building 3. If you look at the legend, you will see that rooms that don't have a bathtub are marked with black circle. There are no black circles on the rooms on the left (the rooms beginning with "31" and the rooms on the right that begin with "32" do have the black circles. There are two king rooms on the left, they are the rooms with the purple shading. So those would be king rooms with tubs. You can explore all the buildings at the website. 1755994889725.png

Thank you! This is super helpful.

Can anyone give me some info about the blow dryers in the rooms? I'm coming down next month and always bring my own dryer but I'm trying to streamline for this trip. Are the blow dryers strong enough to blow dry medium length hair in a reasonable amount of time or should I just keep bringing mine from home?

Hi there

I have a bit of a niche question...

We have requested interconnecting rooms (we are a family of 5; 2 adults and 3 children).

If we are lucky enough to get the interconnecting rooms (keeping everything crossed!) is there a way to keep the 2 internal doors open? If I bought a universal door stop for each door would that work?

They generally stay open on their own once you've opened them, there is no automatic close mechanism. If you want to secure from your side, you need to shut and manually lock your door.

We have a 3-night stay at POFQ booked, checking in on 12/31/25. It is booked as a Standard category room.

When do the new room categorizations become effective (maybe they have already)? I thought I had seen that the change was for 2026, and since I'm checking in before the calendar flips I'm wondering how Standard will be treated for our reservation.

Asking so I can align my building request appropriately-- I don't want to request Bldg 6 if this won't be considered Standard category until 1/1.

TIA!

The new categories start on 1 January, so technically a booking starting on 31 Dec would be based on the old definitions (so parking lot views in 1, 3, 4 or 7). No harm in requesting a nice river view in 6 though, what have you got to lose?

I have 3 rooms linked as travel with but should I also request a tub room? 2 families have 3,5 and 5,6 year old kids in them -would we be given a tub room based on the ages when they assign rooms or should I make the request to have it in front of the room assigner?

It wouldn't do any harm to add that as a request. I'm still looking for an answer as to whether the age of any children in the room is already taken into account by the new automated rooms assignment process when deciding whether to put guests into a room with a bathtub.

I called DRC today to add a request for my February 2026 trip to POFQ. I requested that a preference be noted for a river view room. It took the CM a bit to figure out how to add it. She had to look at a map of the resort to find out which buildings in the preferred category had river view rooms (building 2 & 5). Then she noted on the reservation that I wanted to river view room in either building. She said the process of adding view preferences with the new categories was quite daunting!

OK. I am sorry to be the one to say this but....I do not like the lobby furniture and rug. Too many patterns that don't speak to each other and the colors are a bit too much. That crazy bright pattern rug on a diamond patterned tile with a brick backdrop planter box wall. I think they could have done better.

I'm going to reserve judgment until I'm there later this month. Since these look like they are artist renderings, it may look like more of a match in person.

The new lobby decor looks like someone just cheaped out and threw mardi gras themed stuff on top of the charming old classic French Quarter. The new rooms are so elegant with just a few mardi gras touches. It's such a quaint resort with an old world charm from the bricks, the small "streets" with hitching posts, the streetlamps, the iron work and the river. The lobby decor is overly themed taking away from the feel of the resort.

JMO. Luckily, when we stay at FQ, we won't be in the lobby much. I absolutely LOVE the resort and the lobby will not deter me from future visits!
