Maybe that only applies to families. I don't know, but back in January I had a non-family roommate who checked in separately 30 minutes after I did, and it was no problem. Since of course we each had our own documents and individual KTTW cards with separate billing to our own credit cards, DCL did not care that we did not check in together.
