They are having a $1.00 - yes, ONE DOLLAR - deposit day today! Nothing else due until final payment!

I went ahead and put my buck down on an April 2019 Mexican Riviera cruise for Spring Break. Worst-case, if I hate them next April, I can cancel. Lol.

I also saw an article about the $1 deposit special and was definitely intrigued.... But now that my kids have experienced the magic of DCL, I'm worried that anything else would be a let down. So would be curious to hear how they compare from anyone else that has sailed with kids on a Princess cruise.

Is that for all princess cruises or only certain sailings? Also, can you use a TA or do you have to go through their site?

AHHH! DH and I were looking at Princess last night! Definitely going to check this out. Thanks for the info.

Dang it! I can't seem to find a Med/Greek Islands for 2018! The 2017 is just about booked now. The cruises they have over summer aren't cheap, either. But what is at that time of year?

I just booked one for 6/30. It may end up being cancelled - or moved a year or something - but I have it in there. On the Crown - it's Rome to Athens. They had a few dates. :)

We have only sailed on DCL but have always been curious about the other lines. I booked a short 3 nighter from Vancouver to LA in December, the second guest was half off so can't really complain about the price. It will be hard not compare everything with DCL but if we don't like the cruise, we will be on the Dream in January to make up for it!

That is my thinking. I'm committed to the California Coastal, but I'll be outside the cancellation for even the Med one I just booked (though if my dad decides on a family Alaska for summer 2018 I will cancel the Med for sure) so if I don't like it, I can cancel the others.

$1.00 deposit - 20% deposit. Doesn't really matter, the cost is the same. You just have to pay more at final payment to make up the cost.
The reduced deposits are great. I don't like putting hundreds of dollars down on cruise that's 16 months out when I have at least 2 cruises before then that I have to pay off. If you only cruise once a year or every two years I would tend to agree with you.

Now, see, I'd rather pay more up front and pay it off slowly. Not all at once at the end.
