If anyone is considering Princess...

Now, see, I'd rather pay more up front and pay it off slowly. Not all at once at the end.

Well, they do have a slot for "other amount" so even with the dollar deposit day you can pay more if you want. :)

(I might have booked a Norway cruise as a possibility for 2018 summer as well. Now to decide (assuming family Alaska - I told Daddy about Princess' sale today, but he's all about DCL and I am NOT taking responsibility for booking them on non-Disney and something going awry - doesn't happen) - Greece? Or Norway?

Well in this case you would simply make periodic payments into your Princess Vacation Account and then transfer when due. Would work the same and you get the benefit.

Greece!

Is Princess comparable to DCL? Do they cater to kids? I'm paranoid to stray from Disney because it's so perfect for us.

Thanks I've been wanting to book a cruise for myself but the idea of having all that money tied up made me stop each time.

My TA said they're trying to up their family-game to compete with the likes of Disney now that cruising has expanded beyond the previous targeted crowd of older folks without kids. Apparently they're renovating their kids' areas ship by ship, and adding activities in that specifically tie in with the itineraries. I think if you choose based on the ships that have had those sections renovated - the kids will be happy. 20+ years ago when I was a young teen on Princess, the teen club was super lame, but the number of kids on-board so scant it had little use anyway. But we actually really loved that cruise for some of the things they still do today - like afternoon tea. And having the pool to ourselves. :) I wouldn't hesitate to book Princess now with DD12 and DS8, if I could figure out when to fit that into our calendar.

I love cruising HAL and Disney, two of my favorite lines but since we don't use credit cards this is a great deal for us. Just booked a 7 night med Barcelona-Rome. They have an great itinerary from London to Rome in October, to bad it was during school. I used costco and got on about 600 in OBC as well, something they weren't offering on princesses site.

I'm slightly leaning that way at the moment - I figure I can chill on the ship in Kotor since I've done the only thing I wanted to do there (climb to the fortress ruins).

BUT the Norway one is nice in that it is JUST Norway. No Russia or other places I don't want to go. Not a lot of those.

Hmmm... maybe you should book both! :rolleyes1

I am trying to refrain from booking anything else that the two cruises we have already booked but it's good to know that they have that kind of promo. :)

Especially since they would be my first choice for Alaska in 2019.

It was one day only. But I am sure if it was successful enough they will do it again. :)

They don't "cater" to kids. But I've read many reports that the kid's clubs are quite nice.

Unless things have changed, there aren't many kids except at Christmas and school vacations. DS worked for Princess for 4 years on various cruise ships (in Entertainment). However, they had great service (and that's not just him talking).

We did a 7 day alaska cruise on the star princess. I'd do it again, and this was after our first cruise on the Disney dream. We didn't bring our kids. Wife says she wants to try a carnival cruise next time we escape without our kids because princess wasn't enough of a party atmosphere for her.

Wish I'd actually read this thread yesterday when I first saw the title. I might have booked a 3 day somewhere. I figured it was a thread complaining about princess lol. We're the type of couple princess has in mind for this deal because we'd book it on a whim figuring to cancel it. But then we'd get excited about it and start throwing money at it.
