What would be in store for me and my family in 2005 I would've put myself into a coma and had them "Wake Me Up When September Ends" as in the song by Green Day....It would've been just in time for my Father's funeral.

Does anyone else relate to a song in regards to personal situations, etc.?

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends

like my fathers come to pass
seven years has gone so fast
wake me up when september ends

here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends

summer has come and passed
the innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends

ring out the bells again
like we did when spring began
wake me up when september ends

here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends

like my father's come to pass
twenty years has gone so fast
wake me up when september ends
wake me up when september ends
wake me up when september ends

Here's hoping for a great 2006 for all of us!

I am right there with you Blondie, you never know what is in store for you as you begin a new year. That song is appropriate this year for me as well, just change it to October and it would fit so well. It has been a hard year for us both, I just hope 2006 is a little brighter. :grouphug:

Cheers Tiggerlover! We have to make it a better year in 2006! :cool1:

SO's father passed away last night. Ken was able to make there in time (we live in TN and his father lived in Washington). We are all heart broken, and I hurt that I am not there with him. I am going to print this song out and give it to him when he comes home. I know it will mean a lot to him.

I'm sorry Dana. It'll be a rough next couple of days.

As we were driving up to Pennsylvania for the funeral we must've heard that song at least 3 times in 3 hours.

Then on the way back, same thing. It was being played all the time in early October and it just fit my life so perfectly at the time.

Now I can't listen to it at all, I just can't. It tears me up too much.

Not sure what song relates to me at the moment, but found out an hour ago that my grampa was hospitalized late last night or very early this morning with plunging blood pressure and an obstructed bowel (sorry if TMI). The last time someone was in the hospital over NYE in my family, the coming year turned in to the year from Hell. I only hope this is not the case this year.

I've had a VERY rough year and 2004 was only somewhat better. I've actually prayed that 2006 will be a good year for me and my family. We could all use the relief. But whatever the Lord has in mind for us we'll take. It's better than the alternative, lol.

next year is going to be better Im sure of it :)

Our family also had one of the worst years ever.....
Hopefully 2006 will be kinder to everyone!

I listened to that song all summer. Summer is my favorite time of the year. I hate winter. The song was sort of a count down for me until summer was over.

But then my dad was diagnosed with Stage 1 Cancer and went through Radiation this Fall. We all had a scare.

who will be glad to see 2005 gone and a New Year begin...this past year was one of the worst ever for us..hopefully 2006 will bring everyone what they need, want, desire or wish for..good riddance to the old year..bring on the new!

This summer my mom and I were riding in the car and I had a Barry Manilow CD on. There's a song called "We Live on Borrowed Time" and there's a line that goes "We live on borrowed time, no one knows when the loan will finally come due". She made a comment that she wondered when her loan will come due (she had lived over 9 years with breast cancer). She died at the end of September.

When my dad died in 1993, there was also a Barry Manilow CD out with a remake of "If Tomorrow Never Comes". When I was rushing to the hospital after the call came to get over there fast, that song came on. Anytime I hear it now on a CD, I skip past it.

I feel your pain Debbie and I'm sorry for your loss. :grouphug:

:grouphug: to all my hurting DIS friends.

I doubt 2006 will be a great year here but maybe... just maybe....

Our year has been a disaster. It's been a financial train wreck here going from a good place earlier in the year to a disaster at the end. I'm looking at the possibility of foreclosure and bankruptcy on down the road and it's just mind-boggling how fast people can fall when everything goes wrong.

I feel for everyone who has lost people they care about or has other issues that never seem to end. Hopefully, 2006 will be different, much different for all of us.

"Remember When" by Alan Jackson.. And most everyone here knows why..

Every now and then I find myself looking up from the keyboard at the calendar on my wall and counting down the days till January 17th - the first anniversary of my DH's passing.. It's odd - sometimes it feels like it was a hundred years ago and other times, like it was 5 seconds ago..

2005 is a year I'll never, ever forget - but I'm looking forward to 2006 with a positive attitude.. Once I get past the 17th, it's time to start the "rebuilding" process in earnest.. Lots to think about, lots to do - and hopefully lots of happy, adventurous days on my journey.. ;)

2005 hasn't only been a rough year for many people here, but as I gently eavesdrop on other's conversations in the work place and while running errands (actually, sometimes it's hard to not overhear) I'm learning that many, many people had a not so good 2005. What is up with that?

I plan on saying a big fat goodbye to 2005 at midnight, but I won't be able to post the words I'm choosing to use here!

I think that I know those words. 2005 has been called a lot of things by me! ;)

It's funny how a new year can be so symbolic to so many of us. Out with the old, in with the new and here's to new beginnings!
