If Adam and Eve were the first then....

A law against religion. How very communistic of you.

how about a law judgment against your religion? :

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Three men who claim childhood sexual abuse by priests can pursue damages from the Vatican in a negligence lawsuit, a federal judge ruled Thursday.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge John G. Heyburn II lets the men pursue their claim that top church officials should have warned the public or local authorities of known or suspected sexual abuse of children by priests in the Archdiocese of Louisville.

William McMurry, the plaintiffs’ attorney, said the ruling could open the way to take depositions of Vatican officials and to get copies of church records and documents.

“Our whole purpose is to hold the Vatican accountable,” McMurry said.

That is not a ruling against religion. That is a ruling against child molestation. Even before the molestation cases, I always thought it was bad policy on the part of the church to deal with problems by transferring them to new parishes.

If they cover up something that horrid, they should be held accountable.

But it isn't like priests molesting children is the norm. The vast majority of them are good, kind, decent men. Men who aren't going to hell, which is more than I can say for *some* people.

I continue to pray for you, as always, and I know that one day you WILL see the light. :sunny:

Where, oh where, is Joe when I need him?

if there were a hell by definition, I'd be hanging out with a very large number of the very priests you tithe a large percentage of your income to. ponder that. ;)

this is exactly why there needs a law that religion can't be taught to children under the age of 18. let their brains firm up a little before mom and dad try to cram their beliefs into them.

Don't tell me how to raise my children.

None of our priests are molesting children. (And I don't tithe a large percentage of my income.)

I've been carrying on the "Cram it down their throats" tradition with my own children, and while one of them can now officially shop with you at Heathens R Us, none of them have killed or molested anyone yet.

ETA: Again with the beer. What is it with you heathens? Can't shop on Saturday night? It's a dumb rule, I agree, but hardly reason to get yourself sent to hell.

if there is a hell, it's going to be a straight-up party with catholics and southern baptists in total denial.

and I'll be in charge of the music and keg stands.

all fossil records and scientific reason will be allowed in without cover charge.
catholic priests will have open access to the men's restroom.

All the kegs in hell are empty, my friend. And the "music" is white noise.

In heaven, they play Toby. :)

Fossils in no way detract from any belief system in the Catholic church. n2

That doesn't make any sense. They go from the ethereal adam and eve to grunting cavemen? Or the other way round?

I mean it didn't start with adam and eve. I believe that's just a story..written in the Bible. I side with science.

I am sure many of you have heard of Francis S. Collins, the Director of the Human Genome Project. I bought a book of his titled Language of God, and believes in something he likes to call BioLogos, or theistic evolution. He likes to take the view of Adam and Eve being not a literal story like other parts of the Bible because of the type of poetic nature about the passage.

He also made a lot of sense for a middle ground, and gave a view other than the two extremes. One part I loved was when he went and studied ID, YEC, and just evolution, and gave his own views about them. He especially slammed ID and YEC.

He also made a great point. Science cannot prove, nor disprove that God exists. Those that say Science proves that God does not exist are misusing science. .They can't prove it. If God is truly omnipotent and set the vehicles of life into motion, he certainly could have used evolution to create life. He could have created everything people think makes him useless and nonexistant.

I've heard that before, I think it makes for an interesting conversation.

Huh? Science and religion aren't on opposite sides. Evolution and God aren't on opposite side. They are different subjects altogether. I'm not sure how you can have a middle ground.
Those that say Science proves that God does not exist are misusing science.
Who says such a thing? Maybe you can find one person who thinks that way. But I've been around and studied a ton of scientists, and none think that science proves that God doesn't exist.

I think your views - God and Science - are a lot more common than you have been lead to believe.
