If a ride goes down indefinitely....

With the old system, when a ride went down with no expectation of getting back up, you were given a FP that was good for about 3 days, to try to ride again. (It could also be used for other rides.) Is this still the case?

TIA :flower3:

I believe so. I saw people with paper FPs from prior days.

Is this for anyone in line or just for people who already have a FP for that ride? For example: If I'm in the standby line for FEA and it goes down, will they give me a FP for another ride or to come back later OR will I just be out of luck?

If you have a FP and the ride goes down your FP is still good for that ride for the rest of that day, if ride is down for entire day you will automatically get a new FP for another selected ride. Does not apply for those in standby and not sure if they would issue paper or electronic FP for same ride for another day.

We had Fastpasses for Frozen never works on Saturday. The app automatically gave us replacement Fastpasses for frozen or any ride until closing. Same thing happened at animal kingdom when rain closed rides.

Does it still depend on how long they waited in line? I guessing, you probably don't get a FP if you had waited for five minutes for Stitch (versus waiting an hour for Space Mountain).

i had this experience on Space Mountain yesterday. we had fastpasses but the ride was down as we went to get in line. we ended up automatically getting 'Multiple Experience' fastpasses on the MDE app that were good for the remainder of the day. we could use them for Space Mountain once it was back up or for anything else. i didn't see if they were doing anything for anyone that was in the standby line.

Last August, my DS and I were in line for Space Mountain and had already cleared the first FP+ tapstile. As we approached the interior of SM, all the lights were on and the line wasn't moving. About 5 minutes later, they shut the ride down and everyone had to leave. As we left, CM's were handing out paper FP"s to everyone (FP and SB) who had been standing in line. Yes, I believe that FP was good for SM for the next three days. Again, this was almost a year ago, so I don't know what procedure is now, but back in August, they were definitely handing out paper FP for those who were standing in line for rides (SM at least) that were not working.

We were not in the lines yet. We hadn't scanned in. It was automatic. They just gave us the any fastpass option in the app.

7DMT was down all day tuesday. we had 12:30 fastpasses. they gave us an experience fast pass good for that day, same tier ride (7DMT, big thunder, splash and a few others) which didn't count toward our first three. we picked up pirates and the mine train came back on. by the time we made it over there it was down again. decided to just use it for our 10th ride on splash mountain for the week.

When we were escorted off of FEA (June 23rd) we were given paper fastpasses good until June 30th. Unfortunately, we were leaving in a few days and never made it back to EPCOT. I gave our 5 passes to another guest at AKL.

Thanks everybody, for the replies!...It seems there is no consistent way this is handled except if the ride is down before your fastpass time.

Bummer for those waiting a long time for the newer attractions!

Only if you have a FP for the ride. Standby folks are welcome to get back in standby once the ride is back up again. That's been my experience, anyway.

In March, we had a FP for POTC which was closed- our FP in MDE automatically updated to a list of other rides we could use it on at any time until midnight.

If a ride goes down during your FP time slot you're sent an email telling you it's down and you'll see a list of available rides that you can use an anytime FP on for the remainder of that day. However it has to be during your original FP time slot or later. So if you have Big Thunder and it goes down and you have it FP'ed for 2pm. You can use your anytime FP from 2pm until park close.

This is what the email you get looks like. Note that it's not every ride in the park, it's select rides. And you can also use the anytime FP for your original ride if it happens to start operating later that day..that is if you haven't used it on one of the other rides

With the Frozen ride, since it's brand new and there's a lot of demand and it's been going down quite a bit. It seems like they've been offering an anytime fast pass that's good for that day or the next couple days. It's still a one time use, but being that it might not be back up that day they want to give those the option for it for another day. So they've been a little more generous for that ride. That's really been the only exception. All other rides expect to just see the email.

Standby it doesn't matter, you're pretty much out of luck. The anytime FP is for FP holders of that ride. Seems like they've been a little more lenient lately for the frozen ride since some people have spent forever in line. But say you're in line for Space or Test Track or something, in standby they'll let you know the ride has gone down and it could come back any moment or be awhile. You can either continue to wait in the line or just leave standby.

The only glitch with the emailed anytime FP+ reservations, is it doesn't generate one if you've scanned your band at the second FP+ touch point. In those cases, they're usually pretty good at giving those guests paper FP to use instead.

Well it's not really a glitch since once you've scanned in the system reads that you've used that FP. However if you don't get the email or someone doesn't have a smartphone, you can always talk to the CM's at the ride that's down and they can give you the list of rides you can use.

Okay, glitch was a bad word. It's a system flaw. There doesn't appear to be an official way to deal with people who have scanned FP+ twice but have yet to ride the attraction when it's shut down. The guests have to know to ask a CM for a paper FP, but all I was attempting to point out was that population of people won't get the anytime FP+ email because the system believes they have ridden.

In our experience, as I mentioned above regarding Space Mountain, this is exactly when they give out the paper fastpasses. When you've scanned your MB and then the ride goes down for an indefinite period of time. In our experience, they handed them out to everyone when they asked us to leave Space Mountain - standby and FP+.
