I am confused about the Golden Horseshoe. I know it is a show, about 35 minutes long, but it's a restraunt too?

Do you sit down and order? Is there a long wait? I'm wondering how long from arrival to leaving. How long before the show starts should we arrive? Also, what type of food do they have?

Thanks. I'd like to try this on our next trip.

I am not an expert as I went for the first time this weekend. But it is a show mainly. There are round tables for about 4 or 5 people and you can go over to a counter and order food and drinks to eat at the table, but it is not required. I think you can also bring food from another walk up place there to eat during the show as well. We got there about 20 minutes before the show and had a table towards the back that we found easily. Later on there were a few people that stood in the back but not many. And it was BUSY on Saturday, so I would guess it would not be too hard on a less busy day.

I remember on the menu fried mozzarella sticks, chicken strips, (both of these came with fries and a sauce), chili fries, and a bread bowl with chili.

We are newly converted Billy Hill and the Hillbillies fans and are so bummed we forgot to stop at the shop on mainstreet for the cd. :)

We love Billy Hill and the Hillbillies, and see them every time we go. Snow Brite was right....hey that rhymed! The food is the country style food, my sister said those were the best chicken fingers she had ever had, and the chili in a bread bowl was really good, but big enough for 2 people to share! It is not table service, and you order it at the little counter/bar area. They are usually really SLOW...so it is good to get there early, or else you will be waiting for your food when the show starts....the longer you wait to go and line up, the LONGER that line gets!

We usually get there early and sit on the benches outside and watch the town square little comedy troupe that performs. By the time its over, it is about time to go in. The show itself lasts about 30 minutes.... :teeth:

Gee, I just spent 7 hours in the GH today (all 5 shows from front row center, just the way I like it). Anyway, it's counter service. What i do if I'm solo is throw my jacket or other belonging on the table I want to hold it while I get food. Otherwise one or more people goes to the table while the other gets food. The show is 30 minutes, but I've seen it go longer. I highly recommened the team that plays Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays (they're the ones I know the best). Second fave team is on Sundays & Mondays. They're the team that is on the cd (which you can also pick up in Bonanza Outfitters). I usually stand outside the GH at about 10am and stay in there through the last show of the day. Safe to say I've seen at least 200 shows (and I only discovered them early last year).

What kind of show is it? Music, comedy, both? Benn to DL a million times and don't remember much about it. :confused3

Both. They play bluegrass music (even when they do rock & roll, it's played as bluegrass). But, whoever is the lead singer that day is very funny also. Plus some of the other guys do funny bits here and there. The description in the times guide is "Musical Madness that's one part rock 'n' roll, one part bluegrass and ten parts comedy."

My honey is a violin player and was VERY impressed with the fiddling at the show. He thought they were amazingly good and very talented. Its good music, they are funny and its an entertaining way to sit down, have some food, get out of the sun and the crazy crowds.

This was my first show, and I had only heard about it from this board. :) I am glad I went and we will definitely be back.

Well no wonder I can never get a seat, if people are there all day! ;) We tried to see the show multiple times last time we were in DL, but timed it wrong and each time it was standing room only, which doesn't work for us with small kids and one a wheelchair. One of these days we will see the show!

If they like music and comedy, then yes. None of the comedy is the kind that would go over kids heads. Most kids seem to enjoy it.

I do consider the Golden Horseshoe to be my true home. I just wish they'd let me stay there all night.
