Ideas to celebrate after cancer cured?

...Would love V&A! Our kids will be 8 and 5, so don't know if they would enjoy it. They are still in the chicken nuggets and Mac & cheese tastes. But I'll mention it to DH and see what he thinks....
V&A is only for people 10 years old+. (My 2x DS14 would dread it; its a great night to put the kids in one of the babysitting camps - they have one at Poly, not sure about GF.)

Everybody here has some great ideas already. I love the idea of a Fireworks or show cruise like Illuminations if you can swing it. It's just something different.

We planned a trip this month back when why MIL was sick and they stopped her treatment for kidney cancer. That was back in the fall...and we figured this would be our time to heal from her death. Little did we know she would still be going strong, my mother (who has been battling cancer for many years) would instead get sick and pass away in February and then *I* would receive my own breast cancer diagnosis last month. So now I'm having surgery for breast cancer on Monday...and we'll leave less than two weeks later for Disney. However I'm totally already planning some other upcoming trips because life is just too short and family time is precious.

You've been through a lot. I'm glad you still sound positive. Hang in there.

Congratulation on beating cancer. I am here now celebrating 3 years cancer free, breast cancer. I just wanted to say don't over plan, Disney can kick us all, with the walking and the long hot days. My first year, I could not make a full day, I was still in treatment. My next year, I needed a scooter, I was still so weak and frail, I did not feel it at home, but just two days out and I really needed days at the pool, so we added days, and went two days to park, one day at pool and made it thru. The next year was not to bad, I made it with no scooter and for 15 days, but I did have to rest every afternoon. This year we just mad our 7th day, and today was my first full day at the park, every other day I had to come back and rest and some days I never went back out. Today I was out until 7pm. We have 9 more days to go. I am happy my kids are older and if they are with me they just take off by themselves. Last year with granddaughter she did not mind resting in afternoon by the pool, she loved it. But since cancer, vacation has a hole new meaning to me, it is more about the family time, the smile on your face, the watching my granddaughter make a friend by the pool, not how many rides we got in or even what we missed, it is watching the joy and forgetting about the troubles of the treatment.

I hope your family has a wonderful time together and makes happy memories to last a lifetime.

I am back to give another update and look for more ideas. Last May we booked a trip for December to celebrate DH being cancer free. 2 weeks later, his cancer relapsed. We kept the trip in hopes he would be well enough to go. He went through a 2nd bone marrow transplant (his sister was his donor this time) and had a very long and rough recovery. In November, he doctor gave the okay to go on the trip and even recorded a video telling the kids they were going! We surprised them on Thanksgiving. 4 days before the trip, DH went into septic shock and ended up in ICU and hospitalized for 10 days. We obviously had to cancel the trip. The kids were so understanding and while disappointed, they knew we would eventually go when Daddy was well enough. DH has improved quickly and when we got the $69/night in May PIN code a couple weeks ago, we took it! With all the medical bills, we won’t be able to do some of the fun things we had hoped, but we still want to be sure it is extra magical! I’m working on ADRs and our 60 day FP is next week. I’m going to reread all the wonderful comments from previous posts, but if you have any ideas we can add some additional pixie dust to our trip post them!

Hoping all continues to go well for you hubby. So nice, wonderful really, that the kids are aboard with it all, they still are so young.

I saw a few earlier posts regarding a scooter. Good advice. Disney can be so tiring, even if in great shape.

How about getting a Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club resort? Won;t break the bank, the servers make a big deal out of serving it, calling out what you are celebrating (if you want to) and the kids would love it. You and hubby will also.

Prayers are with your hubby, and all of you.'s
