Could any of you help me with a creative birthday idea? My son is turning 9 in March and we'd like to do something unique. We would prefer a party at a place...but would be open to anything. Thanks!:cool1:  :cheer2:

This may not be considered creative, but when my kids were that age, the bowling parties were very popular.

bowling came to my mind first too
A YMCA party would be fun... you don't have to be a member to have one there

Thanks for the idea. Believe it or not...he doesn't like to bowl! I am interested in an organized party though. Any more ideas?

We are renting the fellowship hall of our church and having a scientist party for my son who will be 8. That is what he wanted. We will do experiments and I am going to make the Volcano Cake from Family Fun.Com. I thought that the kids could drink out of plastic test tubes w/ screw on lids. It will be alot of fun I am sure. I found alot of cool ideas on stevespangler.com. Some areas have scientist that will come do the experiments with the kids for a fee Madscientists I think they are called. It wasn't badly priced and the experiments sounded really awesome but they didn'y travel out as far as we live. Just an idea.

My son went to a mad science party yesterday. Lots of fun! I also want to do a snake party for him next year. There are places that bring snakes and other reptiles. I think the boys will love it.

A few ideas in that are popular in our area:

Gymnastics Party - very structured around here.
Pizza Party - birthday kid gets to "decorate" his own pizza
Clay Time - pottery party
Movie Theater Party

I am only at the 5/6 age stage so alot of the ideas may not be "cool" for a 9 year old. I would also check local musuems, ymca, zoos, parks for any specialty ideas.

My neice had a friend who did a FEAR or NO FEAR party...
they rented a room in the community center in town...they had all kinds of "fear" centers
I can't remember them all put they had to stick their hand in spaghetti that felt like guts, eat slimy things and halloween type activites

She still talks about how cool the party was and it was a year ago

Ds is turning 9 this year - I'm thinking indoor soccer party. He's had 1 home party, karate party, bowling party, taken kids to professional soccer game, bowling party, gymnastics party (when he was younger - that's more of a preschool party), and we've been to movie parties, rock climbing parties, mini golf parties, ice skating parties, inline skating parties, swimming parties, parties at home with science guy, lizard guy, animal guy, slumber parties - and he's one of 5!

We rented the local ice rink, indoor, for one of the twins' birthdays and that was a huge hit. It was pretty inexpensive, $100 for 2 hours I think, and we had goodie bags and cupcakes for treats. The kids loved the party.

Swim parties are popular with our kids' friends too.

When DS turned 9 his party was at a pizza place where they did a tour of kitchen and each kid made their own pizza with any toppings they wanted. Was pretty interesting.

Another thing DS has done was a party at an place where they bowled a game, rode go-karts, played in arcade room and then finished off with pizza and cake. That was a big hit too.

My DS is turning 9 in Feb.
We are having a pool party at a local indoor waterpark..it's new & beautiful....just opened this past fall.
It's got a terrific tube slide, lots of jet sprays, etc.

Let's see, my DSs have either had or been to:
skating, bowling, gymnastic, lazer tag, and paint ball parties
parties at the local sports place where they had rope things attached and jumped on trampolines and into ball pits
Pump It Up Party (they have all kinds of air-filled things to jump on
Swimming at the community center
parties where people rent the blow-up things to jump on

We had several parties at our house. One of them was a Star Wars party. I made the light sabers and had several space games.

What about roller skating or pump it up (inflatables)? Two of my 9 year old boys (I work with kids) did both of those recently and they had a great time! The kids told me all about it - good turnout, too.

I'm so glad I have girls!!!
SO much easier to do parties! And mine don't care if its the same party as last year! LOL!

My dd wil be turning 9 in March as well - & we're having a Merle Norman artist come & then they'll get to spend the night outside on the trampoline...

I know that helps you absoultely NONE!!!:rolleyes1 But you got GREAT ideas already... I know for my nephew he has had a football party & then an all sport party - they pretty much hung out @ the house & played football or soccer - but I know again that helps you none 'cause you want some place to go...

is there an indoor batting cage place? Call them - they may do parties...

Ok since I'm no help I'll just quite typing now...;)

 Wow, you are wonderful! Such great ideas! I'll print these off and show them to him. He picky...so this is a challenge...he doesn't want anything that anyone else has done!
