We are going to a Surprize 60th Anniversary dinner party for DH Grandparents and we need help in getting a gift...

Here's a little info..
They are already going on a cruise.. They don't have or want anything to do with a computer.. They get gift certificates for dinners all the time.. They do have a dvd player that we bought them, but they are not big TV people.. They do like to do puzzles but they have so many already, they are running out of space..

soooooooo as you can see, we are fresh out of new ideas...
Thaks in advance for all your help !!! :goodvibes

Maybe a photo collage of family and friends over the years? :sunny:

Could you deposit some funds on their shipboard account for the cruise, so they could treat themselves to something on board?

My hubby just said that too....

oh and the party is the 29th of October.. and I won't have access to any old photos to make a collage, however that sounds like a great idea.. :goodvibes

My aunt and uncle had their anniversary before going on a cruise, and someone bought them a beach bag with stuff in it (I remember sunscreen and a water bottle but there was other stuff too).

It can be so hard to shop for grandparents! Good luck :)

They are not really "beach" people.. They are extremely pale people..

anyone else with ideas?? please??

How about a nice engraved photo album for their cruise pictures? And maybe a gift card to a store that does photo developing?

How about a limo ride to the airport or to the ship. That way they don't have to worry about driving themselves.

Have a basket (fruit, wine or whatever they would enjoy) to their cabin. Just call the cruise line and set it up. I do it frequently its really easy to do.

One suggestion is a beautiful leather photo album for photos of their cruise. Many leather stores will even "engrave" things in gold or silver lettering. We did this for a boss that was retiring and put the name of the ship he was going on for a retirement cruise as well as the date. We also gave him a basket filled with fun, silly goodies for his trip including sun glasses, sun tan lotion, a guide book of the area he was going, SPF 15 lip balm, Bonine/Dramamine for sea sickness, imodium for his travels to some dubious places, a sailor's hat and a disposable camera to go along with his photo album. He still says it was one of his favorite gifts.

Have a couple of people with video cameras at the party. Maybe have one set up where people can record messages for the couple to congratulate them. Maybe even contact far away friends/relatives that cannot attend and have them record a message and send it to you to add to the DVD.

Even if it's bits and pieces it would be a wonderful and memorable gift - if you have a techie in your family or can find someone to edit and put it all together for you, then I would go that route.

Good luck!!!

Every major cruise line have a catalog of items that you can have waiting when they get on board. They have baskets for all occasions, wine, chocolate covered strawberries, photo albums, robes, etc. You can go to the cruise companies web site and look or you can call them directly. You can even have things like wine presented at meals. Cruise lines are very accomodating for special occasions. They can even decorate the room. People have given great ideas so have fun trying to decide!

Good luck, you have lots of great fun ideas here to work with! The gift basket of goodies for their cruise brings back memories. Our children did this for our 30th Annv and it was a really big hit, as we had such fun going through and using their creative gifts! For my Mom's BD cruise, we had our cabin decorated and a plate of goodies incl. chocolate covered strawberries waiting, which was quite a treat! Another idea is a G/C to have their portrait taken on board. As above poster said, if you know the cruise line, you can order special gifts or can deposit funds on their account. Whatever you choose, I'm sure they will enjoy, sounds like a very nice party and trip. Congrats to them!! :goodvibes
