Ideas for the Next DVC Resort

After Lakeshore Lodge, what should the next DVC resort be? Some ideas I'll throw out there:
  • Convert Caribbean Beach into a Venice-themed deluxe resort. Combined with Riviera, it would make the area seem more cohesive and a destination onto itself (the way that Crescent Lake is). It would also fix the problem with Riviera's preferred view rooms facing the non-preferred direction. Caribbean Beach currently has the largest moderate rooms, but they would become the smallest deluxe rooms.
  • A resort at Hollywood Studios, ideally near the Skyliner station. I would recommend a Chateau Marmont theme.
  • I heard a rumor of a resort at Epcot near its front (monorail) entrance. This would be convenient for accessing MK and Epcot, but aside from that, you wouldn't have much else in the area. I would recommend this hotel be Star Wars themed (but done the right way this time).
  • I also heard a rumor of a resort on the back side of MK, tied into Villain's Land. Like the Epcot idea, it sounds cool, but would put you out on an island for exploring elsewhere. I don't know how many people would want to stay in a villian-themed hotel, especially if they have young kids.
  • If you look at a aerial view between Animal Kingdom and AKL, it is mostly vacant green space. Plop a hotel there to bridge the gap and have an entrance into Avatar Land. A resort that focuses on natural beauty with a subtle Avatar vibe would be really cool.
FWIW I am not a fan of Lakeshore Lodge's location; it feels like they're simply sprawling in the direction of least resistance. I think we could come up with something better than that.

For me the only acceptable hotel to be plunked down at Hollywood Studios would be one that's Tower of Terror themed. Actually, no, doesn't even need to be ToT themed specifically, in the regards of spooky/ creepy old hotel, but just one that is themed like how ToT would've been on opening day, glitzy old-school Hollywood..... think the Great Gatsby, The Stanley Hotel from The Shining (once again, opening day before the creepiness), etc. The exterior would blend in perfectly with the rest of the park on *that* side, so sightlines wouldn't be an issue. Should be right up their (Disney's) alley too since they've been all about the Towers lately on the new hotels/ additions

I don't see Disney adding a second entrance to MK for Villains Land, nor any hotel back there. The area is crisscrossed by water ways and also contains the main entrance for the cast, parking lots, backstage areas for trash and parades (behind Adventureland), and Floridian Way runs directly into a huge complex of backstage areas that they'd not want wayward guests to see. Plus, you'd once again be closing the railroad, because it's literally running right through that area.

I think the idea of a "tower of terror without the terror" hotel in 1920's art deco style near Hollywood Studios could be a winner. They could tear down Fantasmic and the hotel and parking lot would fit right in there, along with easy access to the boat launch and a ready-made intersection at Cypress Drive to route the guest traffic to their hotel parking lot.

I just want a Skyliner expansion to whatever is built next. That's my number one wish. Aside from CFW, which I don't hate, but have zero use for, I have enjoyed all the new builds in their own way.

I kinda hope they don't do BLT 2.0. I think MK is built up enough with all the LSL points hitting the system soon.

Please don't touch the green spaces around AKL and AK - there's zero need for another DVC resort in that area with AKL having so many rooms!

I like your first idea. They can also add a bridge over Buena Vista drive and a new entrance to Epcot at the same time and those resorts will sell out instantly.

I SO want that to happen. It would remove the Skyliner downtime issue for storms that Disney is cautious with as well.

It can enter right through the current Africa pavilion (their "showcase" is really in AK anyways).

Think about how cool it would be to have a "main street world". Essentially take the idea of main street but with international flair. Heck you could even do a nod to the idea of main street America but leaning in to the melting pot further.

I think AKL lovers dont actually realize how FAR that walk is from AKL to AK. 1 Mile from AK to Jambo or 1.5 Miles from AK to Kidani. You can save roughly .1 miles by cutting some corners but that is still a long ways.

Even if Disney redid the backstage area around Pandora to let you enter there you are only saving like .2 miles with the most direct route so .8 miles from AK Pandroa to Jambo.

Epcot to HS walk is 1.25 miles to give it perspective. MK to VGF is .85 miles and MK to POLY (original rooms) is 1.45 miles.

My actual take is there will be a Epcot resort next. It will either go in a space around Yacht Club, just beyond Boardwalk (torwards HS), or CBR will see a section close to Riviera be leveled for a new tower hotel.

The other thing I could see is Disney taking more rooms offline at AKL Jambo and do a quick change out like VGF turning them in to additional rooms at AKV. I see that as less likely though.

I think this would be fabulous but I would find it hard to believe after LL they put another Bay Lake property in so soon.

IMO them doing another Disneyland property makes the most sense.

More DLR resorts is a given at this point with Disneyland Forward being given the green-light. But with as slow as VDH is selling who knows how successful they'll be.
