Ideas for our 5th day??

Definitely another day at MK!

I would also cancel Chef Mickey's. If you want a buffet maybe try 1900 PF or Tusker House, but I would really recommend dinner at Disney Springs instead. If you don't like the food options at Skipper's Canteen, try the kids steak! They have not objected to our adults ordering off the kids menu, and both the steak and kids salmon were outstanding!

I know it's hard when you are trying to plan a vacation that everyone will love. Try to relax and don't overextend yourself. Everyone will have fun, even without the extra expensive meals!

I thought about canceling it since it is expensive for what it is and my son doesn't care for Chef Mickey's anymore even though we started doing it so he could see the Monorail go through the hotel but my daughter wants to do it since it has become a tradition for our first night at WDW on every visit. My fiance used to drive Monorails at Disneyland and he has never seen the one at WDW or been to the contemporary hotel and would get a kick out of seeing it pass overhead. I agree the food is not the best and going late allows us to get 20% off the price and hopefully we will be hungry enough to stuff ourselves so we sleep well. I may still change my mind although my daughter would be really upset since this is most likely our last family trip - its too hard to coordinate everyones schedules! We are doing the skipper canteen for my son since he is a JC skipper but I don't really care for the menu choices.

My kids love chef mickeys too and we have been doing it on our arrival night but this August we are most likely skipping it due to price. I probably skip all but 1 or 2 sit downs just to save a little money but you have a few fabulous discounts there...hmmm..... Also, save a little more and buy water bottles and drink that vs soda in the park/with quick service.

The car rental is costing me $0 since I am using my captial one venture card miles for a 7 day intermediate car. We also get free parking for staying on site or using my Son's cast member pass. I thought having the car would give us more flexability to go outside the resort area for shopping and dining, we will stop on the way to the resort to buy breakfast foods. I was thinking perhaps a day at Universal would be fun but $110+ each is a lot of money. Kennedy Space center is $50 PP so that would be cheaper but its still $250!!

I agree, it’s pricey for one day. Can you do a resort hopping day? Grab snacks at different resorts and call it a meal. And go to DS (forever DtD to me too). I swear every time we go there I say it will only be for 2 hours, 4 hrs later we are still there!

The beaches might be a bit chilly but you said you guys wouldn’t swim. I am partial to the west coast. If you wanted to take a little longer drive, I suggest manasota key beach, it is free parking and sharks teeth galore. It is south of Venice and probably a 2-3 hr drive, maybe closer to a 2 hr. My sister lives in Ft. Myers and from her house it’s 90 minutes but we still go when we visit her, two times!

Disneyland AP here (30+ visits per year to DL/DCA), and we took a 5-day trip to WDW in Aug 2017. We did AK, Epcot, Typhoon Lagoon/ HS, MK, and then back to AK. If you want a 5th theme park day, I would recommend going back to AK, because MK and HS are so similar to DL and DCA. I'm biased, as many DL AP's are, and the only MK experiences my family really found special in comparison to our home parks were Enchanted Storytime with Belle, dinner at Be Our Guest, and the incredible Plaza Garden Dessert Party for the fireworks at MK. Aside from that, MK is so similar to DL that none of us felt the need to go back on our 5th day - it was unanimous vote for AK, which is truly unique in comparison to DL and DCA.

We all wanted to go back and enjoying AK's theming, shows (Festival of the Lion King>>> ROL), rides (Everest!!!) and just spend more time in Pandora (and we had scored FOP FP's for our final evening). And Satuli Canteen in Pandora was the best counter service restaurant we encountered for California-type healthy food (use the app to order ahead of time and save time in line!).

If you have any Harry Potter fans, WWHOP at Universal's Orlando and IOA is far superior to Universal Hollywood's set-up, and a park-hopper with front of the line access is worth every penny so you can ride the Hogwarts Express between the lands. And it you want to relax, Disney Springs really can eat up hours of your day, though again, some of the offerings are similar to DTD in Anaheim. Have fun!

SO jealous of those 50% off coupons! I would also do DAK on the 5th day and just take it slow.

If I had park hopper tickets, I'd use the 5th day to split between Epcot and MK.
If I didn't have park hopppers, I'd wait until I have been to both Epcot and MK and decide which of the two I want to spent the extra day at.

You only mention one FP in each park....what about your other two choices?

I would also suggest AK...very different from the West Coast adventures! I would avoid Disney Springs....i am not a shopper or a big "eater". One trip there for 2 hours did it for me....have a wonderful trip

We live in California and my son is a Disneyland cast member (Jungle cruise skipper) and I was able to arrange for our family to go to WDW for a 7 day vacation from Feb 6th - Feb 12th using his maingate pass and cast discount for hotel and food. This includes 2 travel days so we have 5 full days at Disneyworld and I will have a rental car with 5 adults staying at a AOA suite. Even with his discounts this is a very expensive trip I am paying 100% so I am trying to keep it reasonable and affordable. I think I made good choices on what to do each day by avoiding parks with the extra magic hour since we are not early risers and hope my food estimates are accurate. I have been buying Disney gift cards at Sams clubs for 5% dicount and hoping to have $2800 by the time we leave to pay for the food, incidentals and room. (I still need $1100 in the next 37 days! :rolleyes1).

We have dining reservations and fastpasses (could not get pandora) for 4 of our days but I don't know what to do on the 5th day, which will be Sunday Feb 11. Is there anything good to do at Disney springs? (I still think of it as DD so it has really changed and my kids loved DisneyQuest). Should we venture off property and what would you suggest? Would it be too cold to go to the beach (not to go swimming but just to see the atlantic ocean or Gulf of Mexico?) Is there anything in the Orlando area you think would be fun or a must do activity for 5 adults that won't break my bank account? (youngest is 21 and oldest is 49). My son, daughter and I have been to Florida & WDW multiple times (last time was 2010) but my Son's Girlfriend and my Fiance have not.

Where should we go Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs or Orlando area? This is our last night.

Monday 2/12/18 heading home. Both flights leave around noon.

Disney Springs is a big waste of time, IMO. On our last day this past October, we did all 4 parks in one day. We rode a couple of our favorite attractions at each park (All of the biggies) - AK - FOP, boat ride; DS - Rock'n roller coaster twice; EPCOT - Soarin, Mission Space, Mexico Ride; MK - Mine Train, Space Mt., Big Thunder Mt. (Splash was down) + a late dinner at Citricos. It actually went very smoothly and we were able to take our time and not rush doing it. We'll definitely do it again next trip.

We're DL veterans (used to live in CA) and we are doing our fifth day at AK. We tend to spend more time at EPCOT and AK since the Magic Kingdom and HS are similar to the California parks.

What about doing a 4 parks/1 day challenge your last day? it is so fun and a great way to end a trip.

If I had park hopper tickets, I'd use the 5th day to split between Epcot and MK.
If I didn't have park hopppers, I'd wait until I have been to both Epcot and MK and decide which of the two I want to spent the extra day at.

My son's chose the max fast passes or each day based on what was available. He is the main person on the account so I can't do anything. :-(

Chef Mickey's is not great but to my family at least it has been better than many of the reviews on this board. And tradition is a big thing. In my family it means eating at Ohana's twice every vacation. The 1st time on the last night my daughters mother stays with us and then again on our last day. For a 5th day that won't cost any money (or at least a lot less) have you thought about resort hopping? Starting with the monorail resorts and working out you can easily spend an entire day checking out many of the resorts. My girls go into town one day every vacation and I spend the day riding the boats and the monorail and I visit as many resorts as I can in one day. It helps me decide on where to stay on our next vacation.
