Ideas for Kathy and Teresa Muddy Buddy Replacement

I think T and K should do the 5k on Castaway Cay for each podcast cruise. And then compare their times. Still train between the 2 and try to improve your times.

Or get Bootiqued like Skip suggested. ;)

Teresa and I mentioned on the Podcast that we would like more time in training before we attempt a 5 K or race. We didn't try to defraud anyone. We are going to continue our training, producing our little videos, and we were looking for something else that we could do. We took up the challenge when it was presented to us to raise awareness and donations for GKTW. We were couch potatoes and we were trying to improve our health and raise some money for a wonderful cause. We didn't know the Muddy Buddy would not be held in Orlando.

I thought that everyone understood how Teresa and I were approaching this event. I am not so sure you were joking but not sure how you got the idea that we were going to defraud people.

I hope we are able to come up with some type of event that involves many of our supporters. Without them we wouldn't have reached our goal. From the bottom of my heart I am thankful for every penny that was raised for GKTW. I appreciate all the sacrifices that our donors made when they donated to our cause.

I would like to think that Teresa and I made a difference in a small way for some children that may visit GKTW. We both know we couldn't have done it without the support of our friends here on the DIS.

They have inspired T and I to continue on with our training. Thank you everyone for helping T and I. We will do our best to make you proud!!

Yeesh, I completely think there was no fraud involved. Plus I am so excited about the money raised and how useful it will be for GKTW!! I like the idea of simply walking and training...very much a win/win situation!!!:goodvibes How about a walk around the "Four parks and One World" and incorporate stops at favorite places....for food and/or an attraction. maybe have some listeners join you or something.:confused3:thumbsup2

Hmmm, I seem to have struck a chord with some people... I have been reading on the DIS for 12 years and have seen how quick people are to attack the whole concept of reusing a mug, swimming in a pool that belongs to a different resort, and making multiple ADRs when others may not be able to get them. Seems like doing the right thing, following the rules, and holding everyone to a higher standard is how things work here. Could be why so many people are chatting on the Lines app, and its spin off face book groups, too, where the moral compass isn't always so straight. My OP was tongue in cheek, but I digress...

According to the podcasts I've been listening to, In Disneyland, Tony had to wear a tutu and run while he was sick because he promised to do so when he asked for donations in his quest for GKTW. it appears that he knew he was accountable for doing what he talked about.

I have been listening to 2 chicks who don't get dirty talking for months about how easy it is to give up something and donate to them for GKTW. I personally don't drink coffee so screwing me doesn't apply, but I believe people genuinely gave up things to support you in part because of the idea of watching or listening to the stories of how amazing it was to watch 2 chicks who are self-labelled couch potatoes go into the mud for charity.

People listen to the podcast, no wait, I won't generalize, I listen to the podcast for a laugh while I'm driving home after working as a special education teacher all day. But I also have gotten to know the personalities who speak to me every week. And I think it would have been funny to listen to the exploits of the muddy buddy. I'm selfishly disappointed it won't happen.

I have only the highest regard for everyone who donates time or money to this organization. I also didn't use the word "defraud" in my post, I felt that word was too harsh. I am not in charge of what decisions you make about your training or what you do in the future. I'm just disappointed.

"bait and switch" is fraud. That is why I interpreted your post to make that suggestion. It also wasn't accurate either but that is a different story.

I am not sure you and I will agree about much, if anything, in your post but thank you for clarifying that you were not being serious.

I would have given to the "chicks" whether or not they ever got muddy. I wouldn't have volunteered to get muddy so I admired them just for agreeing to do this.

I could care less what they do in place of the Muddy Buddy. It has just been fun teasing them about it.

Maybe something like this  Create a couple of DIS teams. Normally the Disney Institute charges maybe someone can get a copy of the challenge. I've edited out some of the text from the DI website. The one I participated in was at EPCOT around the World Showcase.

The Incredible Race

The Incredible Race is a fun, entertaining, and not-too-strenuous activity that will test your team’s ability to perform in a new environment. Set in the Disney Theme Parks, participants solve a series of challenging puzzles or team activities before progressing to the next challenge point.

Teams will need to use critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to decipher clues that reveal the next location and solve “speed bumps” along the way to shorten their finishing times.

Teamwork and communication are essential for success. Depending on their decisions, teams might be the first to cross the finish line, but not be the first-place medal-winners.

How about a sort of an AMAZING race with clues and challenges? You could even auction off a chance to do it with Kathy and Teresa. The money of course all to GTKW. I think that would be a ton of fun - The other podcast team members could make up the clues and challenges - have road blocks like ride everest or eat something nasty or sit through stitch - of course CBS might sue so you'd have to rename everything:rotfl2:

Or they could get suggestions from the board or by email to the podcast. Lou Mongelo did something similar to this during the 5 hours he was in the MK on Saturday to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the WDW radio show. They did things like give away fastpases to people, gave hugs to CM, gave thank you cards to CMs that had been there for 5 years or more,

That was an excellent show- and the ideas the fans came up with (and voted on) as tasks were wonderful and fun.
I like this idea! :goodvibes

It spreads good cheer and is a mini-amazing race of sorts.

And they could have Disers or members of the podcast team hand them the tasks well they are in the park.

How about a walk to Queen Ann's staircase when we dock in Nassau, the walk also has to go through the Straw Market.

i think kathy and teresa should do a breakfast lunch and dinner review and give john and kevin a break could also have guests helping them ie auction a place at:cool1: the meal that they are reviewing thus raising money for gktw

I haven't read all the responses, but are there any other Muddy Buddy type challenges in any nearby cities that they could do? We have one here- come out to California K and T!

ETA: I just googled it and it looks like there is still one in Atlanta, would they be able to go do that? There is even an event called Mini Muddy Buddy. Maybe they would be up for that?

This is my idea for a Muddy Buddy replacement. Since Kathy and Teresa are still in training, they could compete in the Expedition Everest Challenge: http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/events/rundisney/expedition-everest-challenge. It's not until the first weekend of May, so there's plenty of time to get ready. It's a 5k, obstacle course and scavenger hunt in Animal Kingdom. To earn more money for GKTW, they could make a bingo card of various activities during the event (I would do blind squares, not let people pick them), sell the squares on ebay to benefit GKTW via Power of 10, and the people whose squares win get a special button/lanyard/t-shirt/something. Teresa and Kathy should compete as individuals, rather than a team, to make the squares work. They could be along the lines of "Kathy finishes the 5k first" "Kathy gets only one (two, three, four) question(s) right" "Kathy completes one (two, three, etc.) obstacles" "Kathy crosses the finish line first" "Kathy ranks higher than Teresa", etc., with the same squares for Teresa. There could be a series of time squares, too: "Kathy finishes in 30-45 minutes" "Kathy finishes in 45-60 minutes," etc., with matching squares for Teresa. I'm sure Corey could do a great job with the "bingo card" and they could even wear special logo shirts during the event.

There's a party afterwards, but the people who got the squares "Kathy rides Expedition Everest" and "Teresa rides Expedition Everest" would probably be pretty bummed! ;)
