Hmmm, I seem to have struck a chord with some people... I have been reading on the DIS for 12 years and have seen how quick people are to attack the whole concept of reusing a mug, swimming in a pool that belongs to a different resort, and making multiple ADRs when others may not be able to get them. Seems like doing the right thing, following the rules, and holding everyone to a higher standard is how things work here. Could be why so many people are chatting on the Lines app, and its spin off face book groups, too, where the moral compass isn't always so straight. My OP was tongue in cheek, but I digress...
According to the podcasts I've been listening to, In
Disneyland, Tony had to wear a tutu and run while he was sick because he promised to do so when he asked for donations in his quest for GKTW. it appears that he knew he was accountable for doing what he talked about.
I have been listening to 2 chicks who don't get dirty talking for months about how easy it is to give up something and donate to them for GKTW. I personally don't drink coffee so screwing me doesn't apply, but I believe people genuinely gave up things to support you in part because of the idea of watching or listening to the stories of how amazing it was to watch 2 chicks who are self-labelled couch potatoes go into the mud for charity.
People listen to the podcast, no wait, I won't generalize, I listen to the podcast for a laugh while I'm driving home after working as a special education teacher all day. But I also have gotten to know the personalities who speak to me every week. And I think it would have been funny to listen to the exploits of the muddy buddy. I'm selfishly disappointed it won't happen.
I have only the highest regard for everyone who donates time or money to this organization. I also didn't use the word "defraud" in my post, I felt that word was too harsh. I am not in charge of what decisions you make about your training or what you do in the future. I'm just disappointed.
