Ideas for Kathy and Teresa Muddy Buddy Replacement

I saw the post about walking the whole Epcot walkway route - but something I have actually always wondered - can you walk all the way around Seven Seas Lagoon? I know you can walk from the resorts to MK, but can you walk all the way around? If it's possible that would be a pretty fun thing to do. My guess is it would be about a mile and a half.

You can't there is no pathway between Grand Floridian and MK, and I don't believe there is one between Contemporary to TTC and Poly to GF.

They should start in Mexico and eat something at every country until they reach Canada ( a similar thing was done on another podcast). It could be a meal or a candy (an adult beverage once in awhile wouldn't hurt;)).

Having done this, I can say that this is even more difficult than it sounds unless you are willing to only do one or two bites per country. It's not so much the walk as it is the combination of food, drink, and walking. I think this would require even more training than doing a 5K. :)

However, break this up into 2 days, and I think it's feasible.

I'm 99% sure there is one between poly and GF but you're right about the others. Am I the only one who has walked the trail from mk That appears to lead to GF and stops abruptly? LOL

I agree with an earlier poster on Castaway 5k. I think the idea of a group completing it together is fantastic and the WISH boarders could help you train! Would promote health and everyone gets a special water bottle souvenir.

I would like it to be something that they still need to train for and work toward. Something that is a challenge will mean something once complete.

Running and fitness are a huge part of my life (and a huge part of my DIS life, too, as I have DIS friends that I do the marathons with every year). And I know first hand the feeling of accomplishment that goes along with planning, committing to do a certain race, training, working, and then completing something like this.

Remember that the kids at GKTW are literally fighting for their lives. All of us can and should do something meaningful for them as opposed to just riding a certain ride or getting specific photographs, etc. Just my two cents. :good vibes

I have done the Castaway Cay 5k and it is very low key. You can go at whatever speed you need. And I think T would love it because you get to be on the island without anyone else. Just those doing the 5k. (I have done it twice...the first time there were 20 people who did it, and the second time there were only 14.) So you can really get some AMAZING and pristine pics. I took my camera with me during the 5k--again--super low key and casual so stopping for pictures is allowed, if not encouraged!

I think the money was raised because of the concept of 2 chicks who don't run or get dirty and they were going in the mud. Whatever replaces this event has to be of the same type, something that would be worth giving up that daily starbucks or that big donation to get them over the edge, because this is bordering on "bait and switch" tactics if they don't do a physical activity. I know their event was cancelled but they can't do something easy like eating food around the world or finding characters.

Get physical, get dirty, get biking, get running--- You know you want to be morally accountable for your request for donations, don'cha?

"bait and swtich"

"morally accountable"

??

I gave money to the chicks and helped with a fundraiser for them. I never once thought that whatever they chose to do in lieu of the Muddy Buddy would amount to fraud or immorality.

Surely you are kidding?

Surely you are kidding?

Yeah, I'm going to assume that was a joke. :confused3  (maybe?)

They could have said they were going to sit in the house drinking Dr. Pepper and watching Oprah, and I still would have donated.

Whatever Kathy and Teresa decide to do, it is their decision and it doesn't lessen the impact or the value of the donations in any way.

I am not sure how to respond to this... You say the " you thought the money was raised because of the concept of 2 chicks who don't run, get dirty going in the mud"..... I feel the money was raised for give Kids the World. It was a fun idea.... send Kathy and I thru this race and into the mud, We were game to do this, it was all in fun, it was for the cause. we were and still are raising money. listeners are throwing out their ideas for a replacement and all of them seem challenging to me and are out of my comfort zone. Bait and Switch would be that we intentionally knew that there would not be a muddy buddy this year and planned this entire thing, just to "Heaven forbid" get you to donate to what I think is a worthy cause. The comments That I have made within this thread are all in jest. As I hope that yours were. We never set out to screw you out of your starbucks.....

Keep the ideas coming, I like them all (except for the one Potter made.... Though that is Kelvin's favorite idea. again I jest)

Teresa and I mentioned on the Podcast that we would like more time in training before we attempt a 5 K or race. We didn't try to defraud anyone. We are going to continue our training, producing our little videos, and we were looking for something else that we could do. We took up the challenge when it was presented to us to raise awareness and donations for GKTW. We were couch potatoes and we were trying to improve our health and raise some money for a wonderful cause. We didn't know the Muddy Buddy would not be held in Orlando.

I thought that everyone understood how Teresa and I were approaching this event. I am not so sure you were joking but not sure how you got the idea that we were going to defraud people.

I hope we are able to come up with some type of event that involves many of our supporters. Without them we wouldn't have reached our goal. From the bottom of my heart I am thankful for every penny that was raised for GKTW. I appreciate all the sacrifices that our donors made when they donated to our cause.

I would like to think that Teresa and I made a difference in a small way for some children that may visit GKTW. We both know we couldn't have done it without the support of our friends here on the DIS.

They have inspired T and I to continue on with our training. Thank you everyone for helping T and I. We will do our best to make you proud!!

Kathy and Teresa,
I certainly don't think that there's any problem with you not doing the MuddyBuddy. I am disappointed because I wanted to see the two of you get really dirty, but that was just a bonus. ;)

Please give us a fair amount of advance notice on what event (or at least the date) that you decide to substitute for the MB so we can try to arrange travel plans to be there when it happens.

Since the Muddy Buddy was a physical activity I think Teresa and Kathy should walk around each theme park. Since they are walking and getting in shape this shouldn't be too hard. They could take a picture at each park's sign for fun.

They could invite other Disers to join them and make a day of it.

The problem with eating and walking is that a person could get sick, but I like the idea of walking around each park.

So this event would probably have to be in spring or fall or winter due to the Florida heat....LOL.

Good luck with what ever event you both decide to do. You raised money for a great cause and that was the main point.

OR you could come to Richmond, VA and participate in the Muddy Buddy here..........

Ok I don't really post anything but love listening to the podcast at work. You all make me laugh and make my job more bearable:thumbsup2
I don't think it matters what Teresa and Kathy do...they accomplished their goals to raise money for a great cause and sounds like committed to a heathier lifestyle. Whether it is a 5k or marathon day at the parks with an ultimate touring plan, I think they are awesome for putting themselves out there!!!
You go girls!!

I like the idea of a stroll around World Showcase. It's a good place to walk and the scenery is nice.

I think that Kathy and Theresa have done a great job raising money and preparing for the event.

Well done, ladies.:thumbsup2:cool1:

The muddy buddy had several layers so what about visiting each park (and the various lands in the park), riding as many rides and transportation methods as possible in a given time period of time in each park but then adding in that they need to do as many random acts of kindness along the way (cause we all know that it is those little things that make someone else trip special and that what GKTW is all about and plus they have so much knowledge that they can share in the park).
