Ideas for first day in or around Vancouver - late start during holiday weekend.

For our Alaska cruise, we're taking the AmTrack Cascade from Seattle (7:45-11:45) on Saturday May 19 (Victoria Day weekend). I would appreciate ideas for an outing on our arrival day. It will be DH, DS (age 20), and me. DH and DS are not foodies and are not into shopping. We will pick up a rental car at Canada Place -- we need the car for our visit to Victoria the following day after DD joins us. We visited Lynn Canyon, Stanley Park, and Bloedel Conservatory while in Vancouver a few years ago. I'm saving Fly Over Canada for the morning of our cruise. We're also staying in Vancouver several days after the cruise - those might be better days for Capilano and Sea to Sky. DH enjoys scenic drives and destinations - so need not stay in town.

Have you visited the University of British Columbia? They have a fabulous museum of Anthropology and is a simply beautiful setting.

Have you done Granville Island? Even if the guys aren't' into food or shopping, it's still a cool experience. The marina/waterfront is very pretty and hey, you gotta eat sometime, right? A perfect place to grab some nice snacks or a nice meal. Granville Island Brewery is a nice spot to stop and try some local beers if that interests anyone. (And legal drinking age is 19 )
