I didn't get the ideas to the person in charge quickly enough, but here is what they ended up doing:
... it was SO cool and the kids were SOOOOO brave!
First: We had four kids stand barefoot in a bucket and we poured ice over their feet. That only got one girl out and then we added a 1 lt. cold bottle of water for the kids to hold up straight out in front of them with one arm to get the other boy out. The last two just ended up tying because we were running out of time and we didn't want to have them get frostbite!
Second: We had four bowls with 5 gummy worms in each with dirt (crushed up oreos) sprinkled on them. They thought it was going to be no problem, but then we put REAL WORMS-about 20 per bowl on top and mixed up the gummy worms and oreos. Who ever ate all the gummy worms first and swallowed them won. It was amazing! This one kid picked up the whole fist full of gummy worms, real worms, and oreos and shoved them in his mouth! UGH!!!! Either he isn't bright, or he didn't hear that he just had to fish out the gummy worms!
Third and final: We had 2 boys and 2 girls stand barefoot in a bucket, they had to hold a cold 1 Lt. bottle of water in each hand -arms straight out to their side and THEN we poured in about 2 doz. crickets in each of the buckets! It was amazing to watch these kids stick it out even though it was really hard and they had to endure some major discomfort. The room stunk so bad by the time we were done with it all. OH and I forgot to mention that before any of this happen the teachers had told me that they would eat anything that I brought for them to be an example to the kids. Well I thought about canned spam, oysters, sardines, but ended up doing HOT and SPICY VIENNA SAUGSAGES!!!!! Have you ever heard of such??? They each had to each a whole can and then top it off with one POLISH dill pickle (We were also studying about Poland with our Trading Places theme). This one woman ate it all, and polished off the pickle! It was hilarious and the kids got a kick out of it!
Thanks for all your great ideas. I'm printing off this thread for future use. I'm thinking.....next year.....12 year old birthday party.
