Ideas for Disembarkation Day and Late Flight?

I have a late flight scheduled on Disembarkation Day (5:55 p.m. from MCO). Any ideas on how to spend the day? I thought about renting a car at the Port and going to Cape Canaveral, but I'm not sure how exhausted we'll be after a 7-day cruise to do another tour. Then I thought we could just go to Downtown Disney or Belz Outlets.

Also, I'm not sure if its cheaper to take my transfer back to MCO and rent a car there or to rent a car one way from Port Canaveral and drop it off at MCO.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'll be traveling with a 3 year old and my husband. Both get very cranky when they are tired.

I would go to downtown disney/marketplace.

Shop for those last minute items. Eat at wolfgang pucks. Have an ice cream soda at Ghiardelli's (sp.?)

End the trip with a Disney feel.

But that's just me

It was a nice ending to our trip. This year we are going to zip over to gatorland. Something different ;)
I don't know if you would have enough time to get your money's worth at cape canaveral, we looked into it too but remember you have to get to the airport early, return the car etc...
Also renting a car in my opinion is the way to go, then you can do several things, like run down to cocoa beach, play mini golf etc..

We rented a car for the last day - our flight leaves at 3:00 something -- car was cheaper than transfer for four, and gives us some freedom -- If I know my family, we will be heading to DTD for the last hot fudge Sunday at Ghiradelli's, and the last bit of Disney we can possibly squeeze in.

Thanks for the advice! How did you rent a car? I called Budget to see if there are shuttles from the Port to their office and they said no. How did you get your cars?

Thanks!

JB, 2 questions: A. Have you already gotten your DCL transfers? If not, I would suggest going the rental car route both before and after the cruise. Don't waste the roundtrip transfer money if you're not going to use it.
And 2. Did you call the Budget office in Cape Canaveral or at the Orlando airport? You should be able to do one-way, one-day rental thru them with a shuttle to the port from the CC location. If I'm not right about this, someone correct me.

re:edit - check out http://www.dcltribute.com lots of rental car info

You do one way rentals each way. They have a shuttle back and forth from their office to the port, it is very easy!

I'm not using DCL transfers, as I purchased airfare on my own. I've reserved round-trip Towncar service, but can easily cancel that for one way or both.

I called the Budget 800 number. Maybe I'll try the office itself.

Thanks again!

We too have a late flight and reserved a car with Budget, I called the 800 number and they told me they have a shuttle service from the Port to CoCo Beach. They also gave me the number for CoCo so I could call and confirm. Budget was the cheapest I could find in the area.
Good Luck and enjoy your trip!

We're going to DTD also. Our flight leaves at 4:10 p.m. We rented a van from Budget at the airport. Great idea about that last hot fudge sundae!!
