Ideas for Beachfront dining in Mazatlan

We decided to cancel our Disney excursion in Mazatlan (city tour and fiesta) after reading really negative reviews from recent Mexican riviera cruisers. Now we think we will just get off the ship mid-morning and head to a nice beachfront place for lunch. Any suggestions? We don't want anything fancy as we are traveling with children (including a 21 month old) and don't want to travel too far from the ship if we don't need to.
