Ideas for bday party for a 50 year old

Ok so it is hard to even fathom but I am turning the big 5 0 next year. I have dreaded this for literally a decade until a few months ago when my wonderful husband said... "Would you like your bday at Disney" I said YES that will make it so much better.

So my DD who will be 8 years old and has been to WDW at 4 and 6 is so excited. She wants to help plan this trip for my bday.

Any ideas of things to do to make it special would be appreciated.

Happy birthday! We are going as a family next year for DH's big 5 0 as well, so far the trip is the celebration! (we are going on our first Disney cruise, per DH's request, and he's not even the Disney fanatic!). I am thinking we will get child care and go to Victoria and Albert pre-cruise. Other than that, I don't know - it's hard to plan birthday stuff that doesn't revolve around food (or rather, it's too easy to plan around food, so I end up not thinking about non-food options).

If your kiddo likes pirates, the Pirate and Pals Fireworks voyage was sooo much fun. You meat Captain Hook and Smee at the Contemporary for a snack fest (they told us to plunder the snacks, bring a bag!). Then take a boat out and watch the fireworks from the water with the music piped in. All the while, your boat pirate does a kind of stand up comedy show. Then when you get back to shore, Peter Pan greets you. My mom, DH, me, DS1, and DS2 all loved it. It was my favorite part of our trip and so much better than I expected.

So good to know- we stayed at Contemporary last year and our DD was so sick in her room so I went to Downtown Disney to get her some dinner (wasn't aware she was THAT sick until I came home) I ran into both Capt Hook and Smee and took a walking picture. Was wondering what they were doing there. Definitely will consider this. Sounds like fun and different to do. Little nervous about the gators though... I know we will be in the boat but still.

Love the cruise idea. Always wanted to try it on a non Disney park year. Agree most of things are planned around eating. I was thinking maybe going to Hoop de do revue (spelled wrong I am sure). Want to try something different so that we can all remember the day/trip. Have fun on the cruise and and Victoria and Albert.

What about a mother/daughter mani-pedi at the GF spa follwed by Afternoon Tea at GF? Or some updo's at Ivy Trellis followed by a signature dinner, 1900 Park Fare or CRT? Or CRT and the Wishes Dessert Party? You could even book a private fireworks cruise for Wishes or Illuminations and have dinner, cake and/or snacks onboard.
