I found out my baby's sex today and I want to do something creative to "reveal" to my mom and kids when we are on the Dream next week. I had boy and girl magnets ready to go, so now I know which one to take! The only idea I had was to ask if they can write "It's a --- " on a dessert plate or something. Any other ideas?

We did a huge reveal at a minor league baseball game for my mom, telling her she was going to be a grandma.

And then the next inning, the scoreboard and announcer told her "Oh, BTW, of twins!"

That was pretty cool. I am thinking something with Mickey in Animators Pallette...lets say you are having a girl, Mickey could walk over with an Ariel sticker like thing, point to your tummy and point to the sticker so everyone sees. Or a minnie sticker or something like that. I would talk to the cruise director once you get on board, I bet they have some ideas.

And take a video to post here, I would love to see it!!!

It can be very difficult to arrange a personal character interaction in a public place, it's too complicated for CMs to have to appease all the other guests who want the same magic moment treatment. I love the idea of giving out cakes with a gender neutral frosting color that are pink or blue inside, that's always a fun one, and might be possible to arrange. The desert place idea is cute, too! Or maybe have a CM bring them a specialty drink in the appropriate color. Good luck and have fun!

Sigh. Many things are very difficult, but Disney specializes in magic moments. Ask the cruise director, you would be surprised what they are willing to do. Email reservations and ask for someone to contact you.

When I surprised my family on our first Disney cruise, they were actually going to sneak me into the terminal early, check me in, let me board early, and be waiting in the lobby when my family boarded to announce them. I had this approved by the ship and ready to go. I had to blow the secret early (long story), but they will move mountains to make magic moments, if you ask. What is the worst they can so...no....

Or talk to your head server, I am sure they would be willing to set up something cool.

I remember when you were setting that up!
I wondered how it had turned out.

It's possible for a character interaction but when friends of ours asked they were told Mickey/Minnie personal appearance would be $250 for 30 minutes.

How about a pink flower arrangement on the table? Would be more obvious if it was blue for a boy, but if all the others around are white and yours is over-the-top pink it could work!

When I found out only days before Christmas that my first was on the way, we gave my Mom a Christmas card with the insides of a baby card. She started reading it aloud (as she always does!) - "Merry Christmas" on the front, and then the inside, "Make way for blankets and bottles and books..." Such a special memory for all of us! Hope yours is just as magical!

Some good ideas! Maybe I should take some streamers in my carry-on and see if the room can be decorated before we get to it?

BTW, I am dying to say, but my mom has a history of lurking here and I don't want to risk spoiling the surprise!

As mentioned earlier no balloons are allowed onboard.

I like the "its a !" (insert boy or girl) written in chocolate on a dessert plate. For our anniversary they wrote Happy Anniversary in chocolate for us as a surprise (plus brought out a dessert haha). They have also written "Nothing" on a plate when I didn't want dessert.

I remember when you were planning your surprise. Did you ever report back how you ended up telling them?

Thread does not deliver.

From the title, I assumed that a woman was going to announce to a giant group of people that she was now a man.

ROFL! :lmao: I did a double take as well.

I was going to say the same thing about the character appearance. If it was in a private setting, that might work but during a meal in the MDR it would create quite a commotion. We cruised with a friend who goes all out for Captain Jack, and honestly looks better than the ship's Jack. The first time was in 2006 and he walked into the MDR a little late. We had a group of 120+ seated in the same area and he was stopping to say hello to us and take pictures with the group. Other guests in the MDR were complaining that Jack wasn't coming to their table and wanted pictures with him. Some kids were coming up to him asking to take pictures, which he did. The Shutters photographer didn't expect Jack to be in the MDR so he called the character manager, who was currently with DCL's Jack at a M&G. She came to the MDR to see what was going on.

What about setting up an interview on the red carpet during the Golden Mickeys. Mom and kids are in the theater and you pop up on the screen and give the news. Dad could be in the theater and video tape it for you.

Ok, I'll be honest... my first smart a$$ thought was "Lift your skirt?!" :lmao:

Glad I'm not the only one whose brain went there!!!

This would be great!

OR...Maybe you could see if Crush(AP) could come talk to your table and break the news. That would be pretty cool!
